🎥🎭 Cine Teatro Blue, a collapsing ruin that was once a vibrant cultural venue in Portugal. The roof collapsed many years ago, and now vegetation grows in front of the stage. Having been abandoned for many years, it now faces an uncertain future. Will it be left to collapse entirely? At the moment, such an outcome seems to be the most likely destiny for this crumbling building. #Portugal #AbandonedPlaces #Photography #Cinema #Theater #Theatre #Ruin #Abandoned

The theatrical harlequin character - an astute servant & nimble trickster - first appeared in Italy in the late 1500s. He's believed to have originated from a devil figure in French medieval mystery plays. This figure, in turn, was based on a folkloric demon, known as Hellequin, that scoured the countryside searching for damned souls to chase to hell. Devils often have trickster-like attributes in European folklore. This painting of a harlequin, from 1890, is by Paul Cezanne. #FairytaleTuesday #folklore #theatre #history #mythology #weird #gothic #art #arthistory #painting

I'd been under the impression that the Takarazuka performance in July 1994 was my first proper theatre experience, but this Turgenev play was in Feb/Mar 1994, so came before it. I love Helen Mirren (and had the most massive crush on her at the time) but I don't recall being blown away by 'A Month In The Country'. Joseph Fiennes kept fiddling with his sleeve. I'd forgotten John Hurt was even in it. https://www.helen-mirren.net/projects/1994amonthinthecountry/ #HelenMirren #Takarazuka #宝塚 #theatre #Turgenev #London #londontheatre #JosephFiennes #JohnHurt

Went to the premiere of Gentleman Jack at the #Leeds Grand #Theatre by #Northern #Ballet. Based on Anne Lister - famous local. One of the best things I’ve seen.
