After a discomforting restless sleepless night of pain, the old man drags his breathless lifeless corpse out of a sunken bed of jagged shards of thorny rocky glass and steel, unable to yet see or function as the classical music plays he scrapes his rigamortis laden corpse across the floor to prepare his coffee, as his hands shake and tremble he pours in the water and counts the scoops of grind, then after fumbling he manages to plug in the percolator and as the coffee begins to perc he shuffles off to the toilet, in a hungerous ragging fit his bowels bellow out, staring blankly into the abyss his reflection in the mirror shows his disheveled hair and beard to tired to care he stumbles back to his bed, he struggles to pull on his pants socks and shoes, he pours a cup of coffee then gently packs scraps of tobacco into his pipe, he steps out the door, the pre-dawn sky is dark as dark can be the air humid and hot like walking into a bread oven, as the world barely spins it is clear not a single soul cares for the horrish existence the old man is forced to endure yet another wretched day; You can encourage my continued useless #poetry, creativity and expression of self, #commentary, random thoughts, #philosophy and ideas, and by doing so your helping to feed, house and clothe a #disabled man living in #poverty, $5-10-15 It All Helps, via #cashapp at $woctxphotog or via #paypal at paypal.com/donate?campaign_id=…

CW: fascism, genocide, dehumanisation, violence, death Hover or focus to reveal Sensitive
I wrote a poem again. And, well… this one crawled out of a considerably darker corner of the basement. It deals with fascism, genocide, dehumanisation, violence, death, and some other subjects that really ought to come with a warning label and a small cup of tea. Hence the CW for this post... I do like that poem. Quite a lot, actually. Writing it was cathartic. Sometimes the things that fester in your head need to be dragged into the light, given a name, and made to sit quietly on the page instead. Whether I publish it is another question. I’m still deciding whether this particular little monster belongs in public, or whether it should remain locked in the cupboard where I keep the other things I write when the world gets particularly unbearable. I'll give you one small look: We are not your citizens. We are not your subjects. We are what you get when the hunted grow teeth. For years I lived as if my life were made of clay or wood or even stone, and all I had to do—“all”— was mold or whittle or chisel to change its shape. As if my life were calling out from inside a larger hunk of raw material, of potential living. As if the shape existed, and my work was to reveal it. For years I lived like that. Imagine the absurdity of taking a chisel to water, or trying to sculpt it with your hands. This is what a life is: water. The work is letting it fill the spaces it runs to; letting it flow around or through the rest. Yes, it glistens as silver as a blade, and yes, it can drill through stone, but it’s soft to the touch. story I want to root through your soul like a good used bookstore; slowly panning across each jumbled shelf reaching my fingers across the spines opening the foxed pages, seeing where other people have underlined and made notes. I want to lose track of time, come to myself with a start to see how much of the afternoon has faded while I read just one more page. outside, the street lamps come on and I should think about supper; I bring my armful to the till. when I get home, I’ll pile them all around me, leaf through them one by one— I won’t put them away. not yet. #poetry
