"The Hard Problem of Consciousness" hasn't been solved because it's the wrong question. We need to be working on "The Hard Problem of Matter." #physics #quantum #science #consciousness https://zachperlman.substack.com/p/the-hard-problem-of-matter

I have a #physics question and I hope maybe some nerd will be interested in taking up the challenge of explaining something to an (I like to think) intelligent layperson. A lot of stuff I read about dark matter seems to assume, implicitly or even explicitly, that it comprises particles that not only don't interact with the ones we're pretty sure about, but also don't interact with each other. Is this just Occam's Razor? 'Cause, I mean, everything we DO know about is *complicated*! …

#Superfluidity is the characteristic property of a fluid with zero viscosity which therefore flows without any loss of kinetic energy. When stirred, a superfluid forms vortices that continue to rotate indefinitely. Superfluidity occurs in two isotopes of helium (helium-3 and helium-4) when they are liquefied by cooling to cryogenic temperatures. It is also a property of various other exotic states of matter theorized to exist in astrophysics, high-energy physics, and theories of quantum gravity.[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superfluidity #physics #caturday #caturdayeveryday

Imposter syndrome doesn’t mean you don’t belong. It often means the opposite, that you care deeply about what you do. I asked my colleagues to join me, because many of the most accomplished, world-leading scientists have felt like “frauds” at times. The difference? They don't let that feeling define them, and often even learn how to use it to their advantage Check out this video for a few hard-earned tips from people at the very top

Paper 5 — Boundary Dynamics: Resolution, Selection, and the Realization of Admissible States. If boundaries define what’s allowed, what determines what actually occurs? Answer: systems don’t choose — they settle into states that remain admissible under real conditions. S(n+1) = Resolve[S(n) | L, B(n)] Resolution = realization of admissibility (no optimisation, no teleology — just persistence) https://substack.com/@hybridmind42/note/p-195972037?r=75c2ac #BoundaryDynamics #ComplexSystems #Physics #ScientificClarity #BFPF

Over the past series of posts, I’ve been exploring how systems fail—and how some persist. Across engineering, biology, and digital systems, the same structural patterns keep appearing. This post brings them together. It’s a simple index of ten case studies, each showing a different way a system can fail, adapt, or disappear. No new theory here—just the map. “The Boundary Failure Series — A Master Index of Systemic Persistence” https://substack.com/@hybridmind42/note/c-249620403?r=75c2ac #SystemsThinking #ComplexSystems #BoundaryDynamics #BFPF #HybridMind42 #FailureAnalysis #Resilience #Engineering #Biology #Physics #StructuralAnalysis #Adaptation

I went out into the garden at 10:30pm in the dark to observe the meteorites. I gave myself time for my eyes to adjust. I wrapped up warm. Since I saw exactly zero bright flashes streaking through the heavens here's a picture if a cake i made recently #physics #astronomy #crushing #disappoint #cake #meteorites

This Earth Day, some dream of saving the Earth, while others dream of leaving it. Here's why using antimatter as fuel is our best bet for interstellar travel https://bigthink.com/starts-with-a-bang/antimatter-energy-interstellar-travel/?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&utm_campaign=fark&ICID=ref_fark #stem #science #physics #astronomy #cool

I enjoy #physics and i enjoy #teaching so... when the adversarial school system got too much for me, the 'cruel mistress' known as #Youtube seemed like a potential outlet. When I get comments like this the blood and sweat is worth it. If you're interested check out , @physics-for-all-with-edward on youtube

The idea of a "color charge" confuses a lot of people, and the analogy certainly has its flaws. Here's how to understand the strong force without colors, and without group theory, too https://bigthink.com/starts-with-a-bang/the-strong-nuclear-force-made-easy-without-colors-or-group-theory/?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&utm_campaign=fark&ICID=ref_fark #stem #science #physics #cosmology #interesting
