The sheer quantity of printing errors in this book made me so angry that I corrected them in red pen and then marked them to better see how bad it was.
46 obvious errors - wrong words, spelling mistakes, twice a whole phrase was repeated. I really wasn't proofreading it, I'm sure there will be more.
Well done Arrow Books (typeset by Replika Press Pvt) for a shit experience, I hope to never give you any more of my money.

Finished Mort by Terry Pratchett today.
I enjoyed the book, thought it was good! It really needed more Death - he was such a stand out character!
The book is full of funny and intelligent quips! I found the pacing of the plot to be a bit all over the place, though.

John Hollander’s poem Kitty and Bug is self-explanatory in its simplicity. The cat’s unpunctuated, almost stream-of-consciousness thoughts fit into a physical ‘cat’ shape, while the bug – in sharp contrast – is but a 3-letter word near the edge of the page.

This week [while away] I have been mainly reading, no. 299.
Argentinian Claudia Pineiro's sort of detective novel Time of the Flies (2024) is perhaps rather slight in its story but makes up for it by offer an atmospheric deception of post-incarceration life. Its part feminist detective story, and part social commentary combined into a slightly hard to categories novel. Despite not really gaining much speed it ends up be an oddly compelling & slightly melancholy read.

Just finished reading this fever dream of a fairy tale. 100% recommend.
Beautifully plotted and lushly & lyrically written, although some elements aren't entirely modern in sensibility ( witches = evil, magicians = good, and the story needed a Hero to resolve it). Main character was believable in spite of being a unicorn.
Loved it.
PS Any idea how I get it back to its library in Kinshasa?
