Where Danger Lives (1950) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_Danger_Lives More creepy misogynistic violence, or implied violence. Can we really trace this all back to a post-WWII “crisis of masculinity” because women took over traditionally masculine roles? #film #cinema #movies #MoviePosters #cinemastodon #filmastodon #FilmNoir

In the 4 years I've been on Mastodon, I haven't seen many other filmmakers here. (I think I'm already following the maybe 3 that are actually here.) But if this post happens to reach any other filmmakers or screenwriters, I'd love to try and forge a film community on this platform. (I don't think there is an existing one? Please correct me if I'm wrong.) Film reviewers and movie fans are great too! 🎬 #filmmaker #screenwriter #film #filmmaking #screenwriting #movies #womeninfilm #filmcommunity

… (1/2) ⁨⁨⁩#SiebenSünden⁩ ⁨#SevenSins⁩⁩ ⁨#SKD #EgidioMarzona#ArchivderAvantgarden⁩⁩ ⁨#cinemastodon⁩⁩⁩⁩⁩⁩⁩⁩⁩⁩⁩⁩⁩ ⁨⁨⁨⁨⁨⁨⁨⁨⁨⁨⁨⁨#Kino #cinema#film⁩ ⁨#filmbubble⁩ ⁨#Dresdenbubble

#TheOdyssey In #IMAX Rant: Some people (in stupider forums that this one) have been asking: If the Odyssey was shot in the very tall 4:3 Imax format wil i not be missing out if I se it in an ordinary cinema that has a 1:2,35 format?

2/? #TheOdyssey In #IMAX Rant continues: The THX cinema quality standard specifies that the ideal viewing angle from the best seat in the house should be about 40° and no less than 36° for the rear seats. This is considered the ideal size for a movie screen. It is the largest where you don't have to turn your head to see different parts of the image. IMAX screens (the good ones at least) have a viewing angle at around 60° for the best seats in the house. #Cinema #Film Continues:

3/? #TheOdyssey In #IMAX Rant continues: Why do they do that? What is that word they keep using in their marketin: "Immersive!" they want you to feel that you are inside the movie, by having the picture continue beyond your primary field of vision. Your are not supposed to turn your head to look at it. your are just supposed to feel out of the corner of your eyes. When you look at scans of IMAX film you will notice that the top and the bottom of the image almost never has any necessary picture elements. It is mostly just more grass and more sky. Or sometimes the top of a hat. So when they show The Odyssey in IMAX 70/15 is more like a gimmick "Because we can" it is not "How the film was meant to be seen" #Cinema #Film Continues:

4/? #TheOdyssey In #IMAX Rant continues: Christopher Nolan knows that most most people will watch the movie in their local theater and he shot the movie accordingly. I saw a video in youtube where he talks at great length about how wonderful dolby vision is and how beautiful the 35 mm prints are. But why did he shoot the movie in IMAX 70/15 if he knew that very few people will see it like that? There are only 43 (i think) cinemas in the world. #Cinema #Film Continues:

5/6 #TheOdyssey In #IMAX Rant continues: Because he wants the higher quality that a larger negative provides. A higher quality negative will always give a better quality final product. Even in poor quality formats like streaming. If you watch for example Tenet on AppleTV you will notice that the picture looks better than most other films available on the platform. So it is a tool to make the best quality image possible, no matter how and where you watch the movie. #Cinema #Film
