SCREAMING TREES Even If And Especially When 2024 U.S. reissue Their second album overall, but their FIRST for SST Records. If all you know is the latter day Screaming Trees albums from the #90s (Sweet Oblivion, Dust), then hearing the SST material comes as quite a shock. This is a far more raw and PSYCHEDELIC brand of Trees. It’s rough, garage-y, a bit unrefined, and legendary frontman Mark Lanegan’s signature deep and weathered vocal is not there yet. It was THESE kinds of records that made them well-known heroes in the underground. The band went through their paces for years honing their craft, and when “Seattle/Grunge Mania” happened six years later, they already had FIVE records under their belt. This album’s opener “Transfiguration” is one of my all time favorite Trees tunes. It’s so gnarly and in your face. Siked to finally have this. #vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #vinylcollection #art #music #1980s #80s #80sMusic

Great little haul of records today! A wonderful day of being out in the sun, and the first day I’ve truly felt myself after coming down with that nasty flu last few weeks. Super happy with ALL of these, especially the reissues of the early SST Screaming Trees stuff. #vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #vinylcollection #art #music #indie #alternative #Psych #psychedelic #1980s #1960s #1990s #artrock

Good morning to all analog photography enthusiasts! I’ve been experiencing a strange issue with bright overexposed areas appearing on some of my photos. The three images below were taken with a Zenit 12 XP and a Helios-44M-4 lens. The bright patch always appears in the same place, but only on some frames. Sometimes it is more noticeable, sometimes less. In these three examples, it is quite prominent on the left side. I don’t think it’s lens flare, because its position does not change. It’s probably not a shutter curtain issue either, since the effect is vertical while the Zenit’s shutter travels horizontally, and there is also a mirror in the light path. It also doesn’t seem to be a light leak from the back of the camera, as it does not extend beyond the frame boundaries on the film, and the seals are new and properly installed. So what could be causing this? Is it possible that the lens, when hit by light at a certain angle, consistently produces this effect in the same spot? #analog #analogphography #believeinfilm #analogfilm #35mm #filmphotografy #photography

It’s that time of year where I have to starting culling down some of my music library; whether it be vinyl, CDs, or anything else. Now that this awful summer flu I had seems to be gone, I can start. And everything starts in the basement. I’m going to start with the CDs first because believe me, it’s going to be the easiest. All of the CDs that were down there have now been brought upstairs, and added to what’s already been up here. These represent the NON-boxset discs, and have (with the exception of about 30 CDs) all been alphabetized to make this process easier. I notice right away that there are doubles of a few things, as well as some things I no longer have a need to own. All the box sets are staying put, so once I’m done with THESE, it’s time for the true nightmare of dealing with the vinyl. #vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #vinylcollection #art #music #compactdiscs #cds #compactdisc #cdcollection

Being sick in the summer SUCKS. I feel like Ape Shit. Luckily, all you music nerds out there are keeping me entertained, and giving me some cool shit to explore while my body slowly turns itself inside out. #apeproblems #vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #cratedigging #vinylcollection #art #music

THE REZILLOS Can't Stand The Rezillos 2023 Australia reissue An absolute classic from the first wave of British #punk ! It’s fast, energetic, has lots of poppy hooks, and a lot more fun than some of the super-serious political punk that came from the same time. There’s a fistful of legitimate classics on this, from “Top Of The Pops”, “Flying Saucer Attack”, “I Can’t Stand My Baby”, and a few really high-octane cover tunes that absolutely slay. Absolutely essential. #vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #cratedigging #vinylcollection #art #music #punkrock #1970s #70smusic #indie #alternative #rezillos

MODEST MOUSE Good News For People Who Love Bad News 2011 U.S. 2xLP reissue Such a great album that I revisit SEVERAL times a year. I have a LOT of memories, both good AND bad, attached to this record. Major life events were scored by these songs over the course of three years, and even the bad ones are looked upon now with a sense of warmth and a little bit of resolve. I’m not what you would call a diehard Modest Mouse fan. I like a handful of songs scattered over some of their albums, but in all honesty, this is the only record of theirs I’ll ever need or have any real emotional connection to. Just an incredible record, through and through. #vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #cratedigging #vinylcollection #art #music #indie #alternative #modestmouse

THE WAR ON DRUGS Slave Ambient 2011 U.S. 2xLP @ #45rpm A band I’ve always liked, but I’m still waiting on them to make an album as good as this one from front to back. Lost In The Dream came close, but there’s some clips or songs on that one, whereas this is pretty much a perfect record start to finish. “Come To The City” is such a good tune, as is “Baby Missiles”, which is one my band and I have tacked on to the end of our sets when our originals have been exhausted, and we need to stretch it out for a few extra minutes. Really great record from a very good band. I think at this point in their career, it’ll always be my favorite. #vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #cratedigging #vinylcollection #art #music #TheWarOnDrugs #2000s #2010s #2010smusic #indie #alternative #aor

JAMES WHITE AND THE BLACKS Off-White 1979 Canada pressing Another great one from the “#nowave ” pile from yesterday, one of a handful of James Chance-related records. This takes the music made with The Contortions and reframes it through groovy dance music. It’s still weird (because everything Chance did had a bit of weirdness to it), just a little more disco. 😂 Punks and art-punks at the time had a universal disdain and hostility for dance music. Here, Chance gave them something they could get behind. Angular guitars, #avantgarde #jazz rhythms, all mixed over very danceable and hypnotic drums. It was a very divisive album when it came out, but it’s now recognized as an underground cult classic. It’s been great to hear all these Chance-related albums again these last few days. They just don’t pop up in my neck of the woods that often. #vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #cratedigging #vinylcollection #art #music #punk

The Net turns 31 years old today. It premiered back in 1995. As such, I treated myself to a re-watch. With how fast technology was moving in 1995, it's not surprising that it doesn't hold up in 2026. Still, It's a great look back. #OTD #Movies #Film #TheNet #SandraBullock #DennisMiller #Analog #CRT #OPSEC #OSINT #InfoSec #Privacy #Surveillance

RYAN ADAMS 1989 2015 U.S. 2xLP pressing I find it hilarious that the only Taylor Swift album I like is not by Taylor Swift. 😂 Say what you want about Ryan Adams (most people do). Yes, he’s a bit of an asshole and a creep, but the dude is a hell of a songwriter. He’s also always done interesting cover versions of a vast array of songs, from many genres. So, back in 2015, when I heard he was doing an ALBUM cover of Taylor Swift’s 1989, it was gonna be good. I knew it would be: A. way more nuanced and interesting. B. that it would actually rock It’s really good, man. It took an obnoxious over-produced schlocky pop album and added a bunch of #70s and #90s rock to it. It proved that not all pop music needs to sound like it came off a conveyor belt. It can have personality, it can be interesting, and it can have a little umph and depth. I still loathe Taylor Swift. #vinyl #vinylrecords #vinylcommunity #records #vintage #retro #physicalmedia #analog #vinylcollection #art #music
