finished watching In the Year 2889 🌗🌑🌑🌑🌑 Dull, absurd but not the fun kind, and never even comes close to the year 1989, let alone 2889. Watched in #Monsterdon watch party on Mastodon. #NeoDB

Added the #PeerTube channel with quite a few previous #Monsterdon films to the #ReMonsterdon collection on #NeoDB , should be handy for #ReMonsterdon https://eggplant.place/collection/4fudrrfAyocAtkSv6ltlb6 (I was already subscribed to that channel, but PeerTube's subscriptions page doesn't show you channels, just recent videos. I ended up using a roundabout way to find it again, via PeerSeek https://peerseek.video/?q=monsterdon )

finished watching Kung Fu Stuntmen 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 Fascinating / horrifying look at Hong Kong action movie stunt folk especially from films in 1960-1980s, & the things they achieved / put up with / survived / occasionally didn't survive. #KungFuSat watch party on Mastodon https://tubitv.com/es-mx/movies/100025738/kung-fu-stuntmen-never-say-no #NeoDB

finished watching Waxwork II: Lost in Time 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑 Riffs on multiple films & genres, veering from slapstick to homage. Gets bogged down for too long in mediaeval fantasy before picking up pace again. Somehow managed to get a ream of cameos ranging from Bruce Campbell to John Ireland. Closes with a hiphop theme, as was de rigeur for early 90s Hollywood, but this one's a banger from the L.A. Posse. Suck it, hataz! Watched in #MonsterMiru watch party after #Monsterdon on Mastodon. #NeoDB

@minzastro@datasci.social Well, #Fediverse systems like #BookWyrm and #NeoDB already allow for global search of media metadata. I realize that storing actual PDFs and the like on such servers will require a lot more server capacity, but is the principle really all that different? And there are plenty of independent digital libraries hosted by universities and research institutes, such as the MDZ (which I use a lot). But they use different software and generally only allow local search. I feel that if there was a Fediverse approach to hosting and searching for such documents - one which private users could also host - then it would be a huge step forward for preserving our cultural heritage. https://www.digitale-sammlungen.de/en/
