@Swede1952@universeodon.com about ironing clothes specifically, where I come from it's still common, and results are pretty good on clothes. =D And about the main point, it's indeed an interesting one. Having seen something similar pointed about before, it also sounds to me that people may try, even unconciously, to dress in ways that they feel comfortable or that represent them.

Maybe something to do with work? Afaik by February, most companies are back in action, and so maybe people are forced to switch back to Windows to do their jobs, including in some cases in their gaming rigs due to lack of work-exclusive machines. Also the possibilities others already mentioned here sound as valid, and I second that months may have big fluctuations, but that may not relate to the growth tendency. And iirc GamingOnLinux has a graph on the growth tendency based on Valve's hardware surveys, though I don't have the link with me.

I mean Epic the storefront, not the umbrella company, as the "company" in my original quote. If we are to be pedantic, there is also Epic the game publisher. Also Rocket League was bought by EGS and turned exclusive after it already had a following, so the numbers for it seem kinda artificial. Though that and Fortnite would also fall in the publisher branch from what I understand. The storefront itself is seldom news-worth, except for the freebies and that time they added a shopping cart with a few years of delay. And their freebies strategy seems to not be working out as EGS has yet to see a profit from some recent news. Then comes Tim, that if I had to guess, is trying to dig any resentments people have with Steam to try to bring its userbase to EGS.

Going by title alone, sounds like a false flag. If people that are against read it, they could feel like they're in a comfortable spot and lower pressure. And with so many companies implementing LLMs to their services, the push growing weaker would allow these companies to gain even more space, for there is no vacuum in power. Still need to read the article itself, but manipulation by headlines is a common strategy.

Because God forbid using anything other than their own generated subs. Or to have options. If that's a push to their AI systems, while AI has its uses, when coincidences or fuck ups are too consistent, it may not be either anymore. And thus it feels like Google is trying to tarnish AI to the point even supporters move away from it.

To the OP: since diggita uses Lemmy, I'd suggest setting the post language to Italian when posting in that language. That'd let users leverage their instances' language filter settings. And a translation by Google of the article: According to Filterwatch reports also reported by The Guardian, the Iranian regime is developing a plan to turn access to the global web into a "government privilege". Instead of blocking specific sites, the regime is reportedly implementing a “white list”: that way, only domestic services hosted on the National Information Network (NIN) would be allowed to function. Access to the web could only be granted to previously "screened" and authorized individuals and institutions, creating a system of digital apartheid. According to some testimonies, it seems that the network seems active (the signal icon is there), but the data does not flow or the connection "pulses" (disconnects every few seconds), a technique used to discourage the use of VPNs. The report would confirm the total collapse of e-commerce and domestic logistics as “collateral damage” necessary to maintain political control and prevent protest coordination by completing the infrastructure necessary for a permanent detachment from the World Wide Web, replacing it with a fully surveilled national network. It could be the end of the “open” internet in Iran, replaced by a closed network that serves as both a tool of surveillance and a weapon of political isolation.```

Checked the user's account. In lack of more info, it looks suspicious, as it only has a handful of posts, all article links, and no comments to show it's an actual human. Perhaps it is a bot grinding trust more slowly, to not be burned too quickly. Or maybe it's just an user that seldom logs in here. And borrowing this comment to opinate on the article itself, it still sounds relevant as the technologies the article's OP proposes only got more powerful. Bet now we can even use LLMs to do that, no coding or research needed on the attacker's side.

I'm not its target audience (not much of movies fan), but considering I made sheets for similar uses for music and games, it makes me think: couldn't it be fully offline? More reassurance of no data collection and it should keep being useful virtually forever, specially if physical media and DRM-free movies and series get traction. instead of an LLM, why not a more direct tag or like/dislike system, with either having a bit of randomness for suggestions to have an algorithm? in line with the first point, if an LLM is a must, why not have a local one trained specifically on movies and series?
