On Thursday I watched this tarāpunga (NZ Red-billed Gull) on the edge of the ocean repeatedly doing a slow shuffle dance in the wet sand. It would shuffle its feet to make a wet puddle then stop and eat whatever little invertebrates rose to the surface. Then it would do its dance steps again. Peak summer on the beach - Lake Nokomis - Minneapolis Biking back from lunch at Lake Nokomis I stopped to take a photo of peak summer in Minneapolis. A guy soaking up the sun, lifeguards watching over kids in the lake and a couple lounging in the shade. The beach was windy today and the wind was hot. That almost never happens. Not exactly refreshing. Saw a small husky playing in the surf with her humans, loping into the waves to her dog-mum and back to the sand to dog-dad. When I walked past she came running to see me with a big smile on her face and sniffed the flip-flops I was carrying before bounding off into the water again. Still not 100% sure if she was an actual dog or a land-dolphin. She was having a ton of fun either way. #Ocean #Beach #Walking

A great day at the beach today!. The ocean was calm and I had a nice swim. One “wrinkle”— before the swim, a large fin emerged and moved about for several minutes. Drew quite a crowd of onlookers. With the known presence of aggressive sharks here, I was just about to cancel the swim. But soon the fin flopped back and forth, consistent with an ocean sunfish, not a shark. After waiting a while, I then went for the swim. Fun! #CapeCod #ocean #beach #photography #nature #NaturePhotography

If it wasn't for this magnificent ocean I might have lost what's left of my marbles. The water was stupid warm, the surf was stupid choppy (so no swim – again), the walk was good, said hi to a sandpiper, saw a few happy dogs but didn't get to give any pats. #Ocean #Beach #Fog #Walking
