Flagship fediverse servers are fundamental to the growth of our network.
They don't shutdown without notice, and generally are more trusted and actively moderated and updated.

We are aware of a spam campaign of accounts like "supportbot" that attempted to impersonate pixelfed.social staff and get users to click on a malicious link.
I (@dansup@mastodon.social) was on the way home from FediCon when the reports came in, and I promptly suspended those accounts.
*Official communications from pixelfed.social admins/staff will only be sent via email, never DMs or comments.*
We are working on improved measures to prevent this type of abuse.

Spam mitigation is my top priority, and the nuclear option is allowing admins to restrict registration to the official mobile apps via App Attestation and device ids that use a central service we operate to prevent spam registration across our ecosystem of instances.
SpamHaus and other services are also being considered, SMS verification is too expensive and easy to bypass.

Replying to a comment on the Pixelfed app is always an adventure. This time there was no happy ending. I had to switch to the web UI on the phone where I could see three letters simultaneously ..but at least the post button was visible.

Ever since the last @Pixelix@mastodon.social update, it's been having issues with showing my pixelfed.com account...
I don't know if this is a error of Pixelix, as it worked well before the last update... Or if there's is something happening with the settings of Pixelfed.com...
I took a screenshot of the error, but it's a foreign language to me, one I know nothing of, so hopefully this will make more sense to the people involved...
I have been having some issues with Pixelfed.com for a while now, where several of the browsers that I use for daily stuff just won't show me the Pixelfed site, always some errors... So it could be an error on their side/site, but I don't know who to contact about that... 😔
