My #wildfire #safety protocol (assuming you have done all the wildfire pre-prep earlier in the season). 1. Applies to RED FLAG or near RED FLAG (ie. windy, dry) conditions ONLY. I pay attention other times, but not as much. 2. Pay attention to National Weather Service forecasts, and READ THE NOTES. You want to be aware of direction of wind, timing, and where the biggest threats are. If it's not a RED FLAG, I am not as worried, at least in SoCal (lots of firefighting resources). (cont)

British Airways 919 #BAW919 incident on July 6 shows hard lessons from history have been learned. But they're still hard. The computer interface on Airbus planes has pilots pull stick back so computer flies optimal airspeed. When air data fails, the computer goes stupid into direct controls - habitually pulling the stick back pushes the nose up until the plane can't fly (aerodynamic stall). "British Airways flight called mayday on approach to Heathrow" by @BBCNews@flipboard.com - On July 6, a British Airways A320 on approach to London Heathrow experienced an air data computer malfunction and nearly entered an aerodynamic stall (wing stall, not related to engines) over London. Lack of air data made A320 flight computer enter alternate control law.
