The UK social media ban for under-16s does nothing to sort out the harms caused by platforms. Harmful content is a product of a business model that uses data to drive engagement and target users with ads. Digital ID checks feed more data into this system, while leaving the engine for harms unchecked. The government's aim to block nude images would take away control over our devices. ORG's @JamesBaker@social.openrightsgroup.org explains that this is about mandating for all of us as adults to go through ID checks simply to unlock the actual use of our phone. They tell the banks to “Jump”; banks ask “how high?” Just like #Starmer & his so-called government!

Starmer non ha visione, ma non vedo in giro alternative serie” Michael Dobbs: “The United Kingdom is a mess, worse than my House of Cards.” Interview with the writer, Lord, former chief advisor to Thatcher and author of the novel that later became a worldwide TV series with Kevin Spacey: “Today politics is dominated by social media, where everyone demands things, but no one ever talks about responsibility. Today’s politicians should follow this trend and delude themselves into surviving by telling people what they want to hear. The UK government is crumbling. The minister resigns and asks Starmer to step down: “Let’s move forward.” Following the Labour Party’s defeat in the recent local elections, the British government is crumbling. Communities Minister Miatta Fahnbulleh has resigned and asked Prime Minister Keir Starmer to do the same. In a letter shared on the platform, the minister says she is proud of what has been achieved so far, while acknowledging that she has not “acted with the vision, the pace and the ambition that our mandate for change demands.” For Fahnbulleh, the country “faces enormous challenges and the public is demanding change of such magnitude” and, referring to Starmer, she said: “Public opinion does not believe you can lead this change, and neither do I. Therefore, I urge you to do what is right for the country and for the party and to establish a timetable for a smooth transition, so that a new team can deliver the change we promised the country.” However, from Downing Street the response is no. “The Labour Party has a process for challenging a leader and this has not been activated - says Starmer - The country expects us to continue governing. That is what I am doing and what we must do as a government.” No backing down, then. Starmer takes responsibility for “these election results and to deliver the promised change.” To trigger the leadership change process within the party, a Member of Parliament must first communicate to the National Executive Committee their intention to challenge. Following this, they can begin to gather formal support: to achieve an electoral contest, 20% of the Labour group would need to back them. At that point, the incumbent leader would automatically be included in the list of candidates. The British broadcaster Sky News explains that, while 78 MPs have publicly asked for Starmer’s resignation, these requests do not activate any mechanism within the party to initiate a competition. #Starmer #theLabourParty’s #British #Communities #MiattaFahnbulleh #KeirStarmer #Fahnbulleh #DowningStreet #TheLabourParty #Parliament #first #Labour #SkyNews https://www.iltempo.it/esteri/2026/05/12/news/regno-unito-scricchiola-il-governo-la-ministra-si-dimette-e-chiede-un-passo-indietro-a-starmer-andiamo-avanti--47684676/

"One proves political maturity by not banging on about injustice, by not troubling too much the rich and powerful. To try it out, simply stand in front of a mirror and slowly declare yourself to be “pro-business and pro-worker”. If you can do that without flinching at the obvious contradiction, then congratulations! You too can be prime minister" This isn't my analysis of why #Starmer has been a disaster; but it is a convincing analysis. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/may/06/labour-wipeout-adults-in-the-room-con-job-keir-starmer-elections

"You won’t be able to move this weekend for commentators gravely intoning that #Starmer lacks a vision for government. What they won’t say is that he eschewed any vision to get into government. His very lack of politics is how he became politically successful. It was the essential precondition for him to be judged by the right wing papers and others as no threat" #UKPol #UKLabour https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/may/06/labour-wipeout-adults-in-the-room-con-job-keir-starmer-elections
