Per il secondo anno consecutivo Jannik Sinner ha festeggiato il titolo di Wimbledon davanti alla famiglia reale britannica. Dopo la vittoria in finale contro Alexander Zverev, il campione italiano ha ricevuto il trofeo dalle mani della principessa Kate, patrona dell’All England Club, prima di incontrare in privato il principe William, la moglie e i loro due figli maggiori, George e Charlotte.
La famiglia reale ha assistito alla finale dal Royal Box, dove erano presenti anche numerose celebrità, tra cui Dustin Hoffman, Nicole Kidman e Ben Stiller. Già lo scorso anno William, Kate, George e Charlotte avevano seguito dal vivo il successo di Sinner nella finale contro Carlos Alcaraz.
Dopo la premiazione, i reali hanno avuto una conversazione con il numero uno del mondo all’interno del Centre Court. Kate si è congratulata con l’azzurro dicendogli: “Un risultato fantastico. È davvero fonte d’ispirazione per i bambini vedere il tennis a questo livello”. Sinner ha poi chiesto ai due giovani principi quanto spesso giocassero a tennis e George ha risposto: “Non tutti i giorni, ma nei fine settimana“.
Parlando dell’incontro, Sinner ha raccontato con il sorriso: “Non è stato più facile…. Ho un enorme rispetto per loro e non so mai bene quale sia il limite. Però si vede davvero che amano questo sport. Ed è esattamente quello che noi giocatori percepiamo quando li vediamo seguire le partite. Sono rimasti lì per quattro ore, sotto il sole e con quel caldo. È stato davvero bello. Ho chiesto ai bambini se giocano ancora a tennis e mi hanno risposto di sì, con entusiasmo. Abbiamo fatto una brevissima chiacchierata. Mi fa molto piacere che abbiano trovato il tempo di parlare con me”.
“Anche vedere tutto il Royal Box presente e tutte quelle persone che restano a seguire una partita di quasi quattro ore è qualcosa di straordinario. È anche per questo che amiamo giocare a tennis”, ha concluso Sinner

For the second year in a row, Jannik Sinner celebrated his Wimbledon title in front of the British royal family. After winning the final against Alexander Zverev, the Italian champion received the trophy from the hands of Princess Kate, patron of the All England Club, before meeting privately with Prince William, his wife and their two eldest children, George and Charlotte.
The royal family watched the final from the Royal Box, where numerous celebrities were also present, including Dustin Hoffman, Nicole Kidman, and Ben Stiller. Last year, William, Kate, George, and Charlotte had followed Sinner’s success in the final against Carlos Alcaraz live.
After the award ceremony, the royals had a conversation with the world number one inside Centre Court. Kate congratulated the Italian on his fantastic achievement, saying: “It's a truly inspiring result to see for children watching tennis at this level.” Sinner then asked the two young princes how often they played tennis and George replied: “Not every day, but on weekends.”
Talking about the encounter, Sinner recounted with a smile: “It wasn’t any easier…. I have enormous respect for them and never really know what their limits are. But you can clearly see that they love this sport. And that's exactly what we players perceive when we see them following the matches. They stayed there for four hours, in the sun and with that heat. It was truly wonderful. I asked the children if they still play tennis and they answered yes, enthusiastically. We had a very brief chat. I’m really pleased they took the time to speak with me.”
“It’s also amazing to see the whole Royal Box present and all those people who stay to watch a match of almost four hours. That's why we love playing tennis,” Sinner concluded.
