#Scotland Scotland's climate progress is slowing down and campaigners say it's not good enough Scotland's emissions dropped by 1% last year, half the reduction seen in 2023, and transport and buildings actually got worse – prompting campaigners to say progress is "nowhere near strong enough" https://www.yourweather.co.uk/news/science/scotland-climate-progress-is-slowing-down-and-campaigners-say-it-s-not-good-enough.html #ClimateChange #UpheavalClimate #ClimateInstability #MassAtrocity #pollution #ecology #environment #climate

Dundrennan Abbey, five miles east of Kirkcudbright in Dumfries & Galloway and a beautiful set of ruins in a beautiful location. Cistercian monks first came here in 1142 and they stayed for over four centuries. The highly memorable peat smoke atmosphere at the superb Blackhouse Museum at Arnol on the Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles. The museum recreates a way of life that was once common across significant parts of Scotland. Drumtroddan Standing Stones. This old feller is the last stone standing in what was once a row of 4, possibly 5 stones, pointing towards the Galloway Hills in the east. #Scotland #AncientHistory #StandingStoneSunday #blackandwhitephotography #SouthernScotland

For decades, descendants of the people who built Great Zimbabwe were told by colonial archaeologists that they couldn't possibly have built it. This despite all the evidence & Zimbabwe meaning 'houses of stone' in the Shona language. The ancient aliens industry applies the same logic to Sacsayhuamán in Peru. Yet nobody questions who built the impressive structures in Rome or Greece. Sunday's Drystone Diary: Whose History Is Worth Keeping? #DrystoneDiary #Nature #Writing #Scotland #History

The magnificent Dunnottar Castle on the Aberdeenshire coast south of Stonehaven. Probably a defensive site for two thousand years or more, no other Scottish castle comes close in terms of a sense of sheer brooding impregnability. Only a short walk from the much better-known Rosslyn Chapel south of Edinburgh is the ruin of the fairy-tale Rosslyn Castle, occupying the summit of an easily defensible rocky promontory. A stone castle was first built here in 1304. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/roslin/rosslyncastle/index.html #Scotland #Midlothian
