I would read this story about the weird observations of Dana Holmes and her sarcastic boyfriend I assume is called Watson 🤔😂

Hive Mind: Looking for a sci-fi book read in the mid-'60s. Takes place in a moon colony run by a large corporation. Murders are happening & no one can find the murderer. A detective is brought up from Earth to assist. He is blind & has a "birth defect" that allows him to see people as strange, colorful geometric objects, which leads to the answer. Need author & title. #SciFi #Books #Reading #FindABook #ScienceFiction *Please Boost*

:boosts_ok: In light of the continued enshittification of Youtube, I've finally scrounged together the energy to get files shrunk down and uploaded to a peertube account :frog_blush: @octaviaconamore@vid.northbound.online It won't include any full streams since there's a 20GB total data limit, but I've uploaded every stand-alone book reading I've recorded :bugcat_nod: Most of them are still waiting to be transcoded server-side, but the whole YT library will be up in a few hours~ :hug_love: oh, and despite the potato video quality (only 1500 kb/s), the audio quality is a full 320 kb/s :shiba_love: add. if you follow the peertube account from your Fedi account and turn on notifications, you can get a notification every time a new video is uploaded~ :furret_excited: #ElderScrolls #Vtuber #Reading #Bookstodon #Books

Well, doesn’t THIS just sum up certain political cults nicely?

“A madman will always think you’re trying to cheat him, but a fanatic doesn’t care. He’ll give you everything he owns to get to the end of the world because he knows he’s not coming back.”

The science of reading has won the argument. Has it won the classroom? https://fordhaminstitute.org/national/commentary/science-reading-has-won-argument-has-it-won-classroom?utm_source=flipboard&utm_content=Econopass%2Fmagazine%2FFLIPBOARD+EXCHANGE+FEED+%F0%9F%97%9E%EF%B8%8F A few years ago, the “science of reading” was still treated in some quarters as a niche movement—something for literacy specialists, cranky … #culture #reading

Just whining/whinging here, but would it be too much to ask my ebook vendors to provide a way to spit out a text (CSV), even just with title & author ? I keep stumbling across books I had no idea I had. (Chalk up another benefit to physical books.) #reading

#WritersCoffeeClub May 7. Do readers need to understand a character's motivations to understand the story? So, I'm thinking of one book in particular, that was written in close 1st person, and yet the author concealed some pretty key facts about the protagonist until the very end. I felt like the author pulled a fast one on me, and didn't enjoy the experience. #Writing #Reading

Piece in the Scotsman about drystone before my appearance at Boswell Book Festival on 9th May. ‘At the most fundamental level, drystone has made me feel that change is possible. We so rarely get to shape the environments we live in. We so rarely get to be part of an embodied, physical legacy. Drystone has changed my relationship to the past, present and future. To how I experience time and consequence, but also action.’ https://www.scotsman.com/news/opinion/columnists/why-building-drystone-walls-in-perthshire-means-so-much-to-me-8492157#disqus-comment-section #Scotland #UK #Art #Books #Reading #Writing

Finished Two Can Play by Ali Hazelwood. It's a fun, cute romance romp based around videogame designers. I had a lot of fun with this one, and as it is a novella it was a very quick read. I enjoyed the romance between the two, I enjoyed the videogame references. I did find some of the descriptions to be a bit... medical. Like there was a part where the FMC touches the MMC's "sternum" - just say touch his chest. #book #books #booksky #bookstodon #reading #readingcommunity

The sheer quantity of printing errors in this book made me so angry that I corrected them in red pen and then marked them to better see how bad it was. 46 obvious errors - wrong words, spelling mistakes, twice a whole phrase was repeated. I really wasn't proofreading it, I'm sure there will be more. Well done Arrow Books (typeset by Replika Press Pvt) for a shit experience, I hope to never give you any more of my money. Pic taken in my dinning room, where I did not have a grain on my face (yes those are actual examples). #books #reading
