In 1993 Brenda and Wanda Henson bought land outside Ovett, Mississippi, and opened a feminist, lesbian-run retreat and food bank in a county that made its feelings clear immediately. Somebody left a dead dog on their mailbox. They didn't leave. They ran the pantry. They kept the gate open, and over years the temperature around them changed — which is the least dramatic and most difficult kind of victory there is. Nobody photographs the long middle. Michigan takes action against hair salon owner who discriminates against trans people. The owner wrote they would refuse service and referred trans people to dog groomers in social media posts. With the #fascists at 22% primary vote (It takes about 35% to form a government in #australia ) I feel like I'd be marking myself for prosecution. And feel sad I am abandoning my #LGBTQ kin for the wolves by stepping out of the circle.

Good morning / afternoon / evening! I am at the #Endorsement #meeting for our local #lgbtq+ #caucus. Right now, a mile-long line of #candidates are getting 30 seconds to speak. We started at the top of the hour. I served on the #screening #committee. The committee screened over 100 candidates. When the proceedings open, the first motion will be to close credentialing. The second will be to accept the #recommendations of our committee.

We are done. We considered one hundred candidates. In most cases, the body accepted the recommendations of the screeners. The takeaway is that candidates who don't engage with us cannot expect to earn our endorsement. Some candidates who earned our endorsement in the primary failed to respond when asked whether they wanted to re-screen or be considered with the questionnaire and scores from the primary.
