Urgent #MutualAidRequest to help a homeless disabled trans couple stay inside and out of the heat Goal (due August 11 by 11am MST): Goal met, thank you! @LukeOrion@indiepocalypse.social and I didn’t make our goal by the deadline this morning, and the only reason we aren’t outside is because the front desk was willing to give us an extra hour. Even then we only made with 10 minutes to spare. We need to raise $86 by 11am tomorrow morning. This morning was extremely stressful for us, and it really did a number on us. We’re dealing with major pain flare ups right now. Please help us be able to stay inside tomorrow so we can recover more. *URGENT* #MutualAidRequest to help a homeless disabled trans couple stay inside and out of heat Goal (due August 10): $79/$86 UPDATE: The good news is that @LukeOrion@indiepocalypse.social and I were able to stay inside. We made it with under 10 minutes to spare. We got a donation that brought us to $79 after fees. We had to use $7 of the $10 that's still left of what's *supposed* to go towards them being able to get top surgery. We weren't in any position to wait to see if somebody would donate that last $7 in time. Keeping number at $79 for now to try and recover that. Thank you! The Infrastructure of Survival

My people are on the streets again. Jakarta, Bandung, North Sumatra, South Sumatra; students have been tearing down police barricades since 12 June, naming what they are watching in real time: a government letting a 32% fuel price hike become the benchmark for a wider cost-of-living crisis while spending 268 trillion rupiah on programmes riddled with corruption, expanding military presence into civilian institutions, resurrecting the logic of dwifungsi ABRI that Reformasi was supposed to have buried in 1998. The protest name this time is “Heading to Bankrupt Indonesia.” Precise, not dramatic.

I am watching this from inside Indonesia, which means I am watching it from inside the same economic conditions. The rupiah is at 18,000 to the dollar. Staple prices are up. The state is not going to redistribute its way out of this; it is going to extract its way through it, and ordinary people are going to absorb that extraction in their bodies, their budgets, their capacity to stay housed and fed and connected.

This is not a situation unique to Indonesia. It is the situation. Everywhere the state decides that certain people’s survival is not a priority, the same infrastructure gap opens. And the only thing that fills it is people deciding to fill it for each other.

That is what this roundup is.

The actual practice of showing up for each other inside conditions none of us individually created and none of us can individually fix. From each according to their capacity, to each according to their needs; this week, as every week, in the small and material and unglamorous form of moving money toward people who need it.

Below is this week’s list. Some requests are urgent, some are overdue, and all of them need movement. Show up however possible, financially or by amplifying so someone who can give financially finds the request. Both matter.

After a discomforting restless sleepless night of pain, the old man drags his breathless lifeless corpse out of a sunken bed of jagged shards of thorny rocky glass and steel, unable to yet see or function as the classical music plays he scrapes his rigamortis laden corpse across the floor to prepare his coffee, as his hands shake and tremble he pours in the water and counts the scoops of grind, then after fumbling he manages to plug in the percolator and as the coffee begins to perc he shuffles off to the toilet, in a hungerous ragging fit his bowels bellow out, staring blankly into the abyss his reflection in the mirror shows his disheveled hair and beard to tired to care he stumbles back to his bed, he struggles to pull on his pants socks and shoes, he pours a cup of coffee then gently packs scraps of tobacco into his pipe, he steps out the door, the pre-dawn sky is dark as dark can be the air humid and hot like walking into a bread oven, as the world barely spins it is clear not a single soul cares for the horrish existence the old man is forced to endure yet another wretched day; You can encourage my continued useless #poetry, creativity and expression of self, #commentary, random thoughts, #philosophy and ideas, and by doing so your helping to feed, house and clothe a #disabled man living in #poverty, $5-10-15 It All Helps, via #cashapp at $woctxphotog or via #paypal at paypal.com/donate?campaign_id=…
