It is now Pride Month, which means many things, and personally, it means another attempt to find a sliver of peace while living within my body.
I have been fighting for my life from birth, not just because I'm trans, but because I lived through DV starting as early as I can remember. Over the years this has left me consistently searching for somewhere to stay the night. I've been fighting for a long time and I believe I deserve a little comfort. This month, I have a consultation for top surgery; my second consultation with this surgeon, with the first being over 6 years ago, as soon as I turned 18. The first one fell apart because I unexpectedly lost the stability I had found.
The only thing really keeping me from top surgery this time is not having a working car. I know if I had health insurance, and if the doctor took insurance, I could get a free ride, but that isn't the case. My partner, @magicalgrrrl@indiepocalypse.social and I *need* a car, not only to get me to these crucial appointments, but also in order to get her accessible employment. A car would make it so we aren't needing to spend upwards of $25 to get our medicine every few days, and even more to get a couple of days' groceries (which REALLY adds up).
I want to ask that you boost this post, at the very least, to help amplify my voice.

I got scheduled for a top surgery consultation today, and I’m really anxious to achieve this finally. I’d love to make art for people to make sure this can happen as smoothly as possible (financially speaking) because I’ve spent a long time trying to get top surgery. It would help more than I can express, because the dysphoria has been destroying me.

TRUTH. Just a few days ago I had a friend point out some embedded gender binary thinking in MY thoughts that I hadn't realized was there. And had been for over a decade.
And that thinking had been from a human sexuality course taught by a cis queer instructor.

I am queer and non-binary. I recently realized that although I’ve been #queer all my life, I was also #trans. Over the last year, I’ve come to terms with why I was so unhappy with my body. Why I hated clothes shopping, getting my hair cut and other typically gendered things. It was all wrong because people were trying to steer me toward only male things. I love doing them now that I’ve admitted to myself that I was just walking down the wrong aisle.

Since I’m going on about personal stuff, I’ll also mention that psychedelics have played a major role in me figuring out my gender identity.
Using THC gummies definitely loosened the damn but late last year I tried mushrooms for the first time. During that first trip, it was just so obvious to me that I wanted to be someone I wasn’t. It sort of threw the shackles off my brain (that I had put there) and let me express what was hidden deep down inside.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I wanted to be something other than male. I didn’t want to be a woman, but something in between. I want to take from both columns. Who says guys can’t wear yoga pants or leggings? Or a skirt? Or makeup?
Mushrooms lowered my inhibitions enough for me to finally admit it out loud. And once I said, “I am trans” out loud for the first time, it felt so right. Like a huge weight off my shoulders.

Not to be too horny on main, but getting to wear clothes that make me feel sexy is so refreshing. It’s ignited my interest in fashion. It was always there (my spouse and I constantly gab about onscreen fashions during movies) but I love exploring this new arena.
My spouse has been encouraging me to find my style and helping guide me through the world of women’s #fashion- though if anyone else has tips or suggestions on fashion for trans femmes, I’m all ears.
She’s also helped me with my makeup. If anyone has a good basic #makeup tips, I’ll gladly take some of those too. I’d love to start doing it on my own.
