Three things I’m grateful for today:

  1. Hearing that my client told her therapist she is grateful for me. It feels so good to help.

  2. I made a new connection through tabling for the peace trot that’s happening on Father’s Day. A walk for peace.

  3. Cado avocado ice cream and my custom tea blend. The tea blend consisted of peppermint leaf, marshmallow root, dandelion leaf, elder flower, echinacea leaf and flower, bladderwrack, and lavender. It made me feel like an alchemist making a medicinal potion.

  1. Got the car packed today for the long road trip that starts tomorrow.
  2. Not feeling nearly as anxious today about the trip and leaving my safety bubble to take care of unpleasant and heart wrenching things at my dad and brother’s place.
  3. My sweet Girlie was my pal again today.

  1. I am finally back in my home state of Michigan!
  2. Drove through severe rainstorms in lower Michigan today but it is not raining here in Mackinaw City.
  3. The flying insects in the video are midges that have recently hatched. Fortunately, they are the non-biting variety.

I’ve now almost spent my first full day in the flat alone after we said goodbye to our beloved Pocak. I spent a nice few days with my Mum, just taking stock and being with her (and the sibling, unfortunately). My partner got safely to Hungary, and his Mum had her op successfully, so things are going well. This morning, I moved my desk to a different position - I didn’t think I could work in the original position without thinking of Pocak in his usual place, by my chair and scratching on the furniture for attention and food. But I’ve been feeling quite positive, and I feel 100% that we made the right decision for our kitty. We gave him our best for five years of his 18 years. When I got home yesterday, I found a card from our vets, sending their best wishes and a packet of seeds for us to plant in his memory. Before my partner left, we chose some photos to have printed, and they’ve arrived. We’re going to get a couple of photo frames, similar to the ones we have for our first cat, Felix. We’ll just need to wait for the paw prints to come, and then order the frames. But I’m so grateful we had five years with Pocak. #gratitude #CatsOfMastodon

Today's #gratitude is for my #bike allowing me to do errands in the city faster, cheaper and way more fun than errands should ever be. Easy and free parking, no traffic, enjoying the sun and wind. Zero emissions, no petrol price to worry about. In and out of every shop/office in less than half of the time it takes to find a car park. The true vehicle of the future, today! 🚲 #AKLBikeLife #paihikara #BikeTooter #NoCarNoProblem

#Gratitude for a recent conversation about this Verse. The following is a further attempt to try to further unpack the reference to 'Try." Hope it proves of interest ... "Ah, and I think the moment is less a prophetic slogan than a critique of using the word “try” as a way of excusing ourselves from actually attaining the goal. In Luke’s case, in that scene, Yoda isn’t issuing a universal condemnation of effort. He’s challenging Luke’s intention and attention. Yoda knows Luke can do it. That’s the point. What falls short isn’t ability, it’s commitment. Luke’s language, I’ll try, reveals that his engagement doesn’t yet meet his potential. That’s why I don’t read the scene as a blanket pooh‑poohing of those who genuinely try and fail. Pop culture has universalised the line into a motivational poster, flattening the teaching into something absolute. But the moment is far more particular, and therefore more uncomfortable. The teaching lands when we recognise ourselves in it (hence the Verse 😉 ): those moments when we know we can do something, but our habits, blocks, or distractions allow us to stay safely inside the narrative of “trying.” Trying becomes a place to hide, an identity that lets us avoid the risk of full commitment."

  1. Yesterday, I got to spend time with a new friend, and it really helped me feel seen and connected. Our conversation reminded me how meaningful genuine connection can be.

  2. Today, I get to see my chosen family. I’m genuinely excited about that.

  3. I’m inspired by the good actions of community members—people giving, supporting, and caring for one another. It reminds me that kindness is contagious and motivates me to do the same.
