(…) #linux #musicproduction

Can you recommend a simple tracker or something for doing some simple musical things?

For which OS? At one time I'd enthusiastically recommend Audacity, which is cross-platform, but;

https://fosspost.org/audacity-is-now-a-spyware/

Fortunately, the GPL license on the code enabled the community to release spyware-free forks. Here's one, called Tenacity;

https://codeberg.org/tenacityteam/tenacity

Also #TIL that LMMS is now cross-platform too;

https://lmms.io/

Unfiltered Audio is offering a Linux beta of their new, free BattleFX plugin. Freaky, glitchy delays and reverbs with saturation/wave-shaping. You've got to "buy" a license from their main products page, but it's $0. https://www.unfilteredaudio.com/blogs/news/one-battle-after-another-week-3 #LinuxAudio #musicProduction

eventually while making music, one might find themselves better at this other style, rather than the one they were going for initially this is happening to me currently, i'm actually becoming like a future riddim GOD right now the main genre i'd like to make is colour bass and heavy bass genres but tbh i'm having soo much fun making future riddim, it's simple to make and rly expressive at the same time while i'm practicing sound design and arrangement so i can actually make those other genres, the next best thing is to try to get as many ideas going as possible. with a simple yet appealing genre, like for example future riddim for me, that's easy and fulfilling and makes me want to keep going and make more stuff actually i don't think it's a coincidence that i've been the most productive as of late where my focus has been almost 100% on making future riddim whenever i open fl studio. the other stuff is also fun but i'm not a good sound designer and i also haven't developed the arrangement style that i feel i need in order to make the other genres. so it was limiting me. this, i still like, and i can make it, so it's great actually! so where am i going with this experiment. experiment and embrace, as long as what's being made is liked. and make sure to have fun! that'll bring motivation up #music #musicproduction
