Well that's me done! Thank you everyone for a smashing couple of hours!
I'm back behind the console tomorrow at The Red Shed in Wakefield for my monthly residential, playing 7" singles so people can dance. Needle goes down at 7pm, be lovely to see you!

My goodness, just realised this chart was around the time of a compilation I played to death. Had it on cassette, red cover, called "Awesome!".
Had Wonder Stuff, James, Blur on it, alongside stuff from A Tribe Called Quest, 808 State, and loads more.
I found it a couple of years later on CD in an ex-jukebox rack, so that came with me. Still got it, and the sequel (named, appropriately, "Awesome! 2").

Blur's "There's No Other Way" always evokes post-pub Fridays watching The Word.
Seen Blur a few times (first at Hull Uni in 1993, last at Hyde Park about 15 years ago), was underwhelmed tbh - and I was on Team Blur too.
(Saw Oasis too, at Hull Adelphi. They were shite. I left to play pool and try and pull a hall-mate.)

I was a huge Vic Reeves fan when this was released, used to watch Big Night Out when it was in its original first slot - 6:30pm on Wednesday teatime on C4.
Of course when it moved to 11:30pm it got popular, and everyone was quoting it everywhere.
But for that little golden moment, I was actually ahead of the bloody curve.
I had "I Will Cure You", which was quite a fun little album (and had this on it). B-side was I think Black Night, tho might have that wrong, maybe Oh Mr Songwriter.
