@jaybird110127@dragonscave.space Having a message allowing someone to guess the server version would allow a downgrade style attack where an attacker would purposely try to force the server to switch to an older version of the protocol which may be affected by a flaw. Having a non descript error message will make users look for assistance from the server administrator which may at a point understand that he needs to upgrade it's instance. #vaultwarden and #bitwarden are docker based both, having a once a week script to auto update your container could help prevent such misdemeanor.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social I've just started my journey: moved fully to Tuta 2 weeks ago. #Bluefin Linux on laptop. #GrapheneOS in mobile; Using #LibreWolf and #Mullvad browser; #bitwarden: #enteauthenticator; #cryptpad for online docs; #signal for comms. And anxiously waiting for #tutadrive

Seems Bitwarden is enshittifying, time to pick a successor. Going to setup vaultwarden, aliasvault and passbolt and try them out for a couple of months before making the final decision. It's not just for me so best to be extra careful. Vaultwarden has a leg ahead as it's very easy to migrate, I should be able to run it with the Bitwarden app. #selfhosting #bitwarden

What's a good #PasswordManager with cloud sync and #TOTP? I'd happily pay for #Bitwarden Premium if it didn't require 2FA for new sign-ins, which I find completely unacceptable as it means you lose access to your whole online life if you lose your devices and your backup of the recovery code. That's catastrophic for a password manager, and could easily happen for example in a house fire or police raid. #AliasVault does look very promising, but I'm a bit wary of it being a new and unproven solo-developer project. Their #privacy policy doesn't mention to which extent they keep logs. Recommendations? @bitwarden@fosstodon.org @aliasvault@mastodon.social
