I'm getting rid of Mullvad, because I don't want any of my money going to Nazis.
Any suggestions for an alternative? I'm pretty much insisting on paying (because "if it's free, you're the product", and this is supposed to be a privacy tool).
I like the cut of Windscribe's jib, but is it just cool marketing? Proton's a shaky one with their free and easy stance on giving governments access to people's email. Nord feels overhyped. What are the hot tips for simple unobtrusive VPN services?

Today is my last day of Mullvad. I'm really stuck choosing an alternative. The best I've seen is ivpn - but have read comments about it being slow and only having a few servers. Maybe I should just sign up for a month and see. It's a shame that Mullvad just shrugged its shoulders about criticisms.
I'd appreciate recommendations for a vpn as a Mullvad replacement.

@TenebrisNox@mastodon.me.uk I got a refund from #mullvad after cancelling. The entire conversation with support was quite civil and they said they would pass on my remarks to management. I’ve been using #iVPN for a month now. It seems to work well enough but is lacking some of the features that I liked with mullvad. Speeds are comparable, in my experience.

I haven't settled yet on what's a decent VPN alternative, although my current frontrunners are Njalla (run by a co-founder of The Pirate Bay) and Nebula by Defined.net. Not sure about their politics, but distributed and Nebula is FOSS which is a positive signal, while not a guarantee.
What I've ruled out:
ProtonVPN - Actively working with government against activists
Windscribe - Transphobic indications
Mullvad - Funding a fascist leaning party
I'd love to hear anything people have learned about the alternatives, either pro or against. Boosts appreciated for reach.

just throwing my 2 cents into the #vpn choices and based on what i've looked at in the last few days.
(yes i'm moving away from #mullvad not in a cutting off my nose to spite my face sort of way)
i've looked at the following and i've decided not to go with : #ivpn, #windscribe
i also avoided #kagi (incidentally also partnered with ws with discounts) which has AI , based in US and a paid model that I suspect I'll still be the product even though I paid. Either way, i've tested the free search and I don't find it life changing great.
the ones that made the 'okay' list was : #njalla, #xeovo, #riseup, #airvpn
i wasn't able to find (easily) a list of server locations with #njalla,
njalla, riseup and xeovo needed some sort of tech knowledge to get started, and its not ideal as i needed to get this for the household and mobiles.
only airvpn was one of the remaining that may had dubious twitter past. but it was the only choice left that had the server location i needed, so this was where i eventually land. mind, airvpn requires you to register with an account, so if you are worried about this, it's not for you. i don't use them for anonymity.
tbh, if xeovo had locations and native app setup, i will jump on it. right now it just felt like a compromise.
