@dog_dyke_dawn@bark.lgbt they are slowly putting in DRMs into their newer printers. while they are not made my "never buy any from their entire ecosystem even if you paid me" the likes of HP. Brother is still one of the better (less user hostile) printers to own. i still have their mono laser, its "only does wpa1" old.

A good sign is to see how easily you can get 3rd party carts and contrast with how many complaints of said carts stopped working with a new firmware update. I am pretty convinced I can put in my will to let my kids inherit my brother printers and dell monitors. 😂

At least most roles i know that carry a pager/mobile has additional compensation. personally, right now I don't think I could do it. i was an engineer doing hardware refreshes all the time so i spent months in the DC but never on call. However I thought I got 'out' being an architect, I still get called at 3am (with no additional pay) in the morning to mentally troubleshoot issues with the engineer when a change goes wrong and only has 30mins to 2hrs to revert the configs.

@sidalsolgun@infosec.exchange without going in deep with biometrics, each brands implementation are different. cost etc. there will be shit ones and there will be decent ones. understanding how they work will answer the "why it mistook you" part but not the "why so stupid" part. for me tech has become way out of my reach budget-wise even if i want to get a new ianything. so it's a self fulfilling prophecy in the new AI world.

They seem to have fixed the shared chat public dump issue. Yet the decades of “don’t put what you don’t want shared online” lessons didn’t stick. Even if you are doing it diligently legit stuff, the folks reading your prompts at work are also “mirroring” (ie steal) your history of how to work more efficiently. Now they are inventing metrics on measuring your ai use performance. lol. It’s a fools hill climb.

@az@scorpinc.social it's splitting up into a few paths nowadays from what i see in game dev, with a lot of new entries with AI slop masquerading as AI 'enhancements'. The result is most often a bloat. i'm all for better plot and platform interplay, however at this juncture in life, I'm cynical about most other platform owners playing nice (eg xbox/ps/switch) each are going down their own unique path of enshittification. i dont know what's the answer, i thought i still like ASCII games, but somehow trying out dwarf fortress makes me hate it. 😆

just throwing my 2 cents into the #vpn choices and based on what i've looked at in the last few days. (yes i'm moving away from #mullvad not in a cutting off my nose to spite my face sort of way) i've looked at the following and i've decided not to go with : #ivpn, #windscribe i also avoided #kagi (incidentally also partnered with ws with discounts) which has AI , based in US and a paid model that I suspect I'll still be the product even though I paid.
