Okay, this may be a stupid question... but is there a way using Stylus, or another extension available to Firefox¹, that will allow me to universally force all websites I visit to use bunny fonts instead of google fonts? I know how to change it on my own sites, and if I want to play whack a mole and craft Stylus rules for each site I visit as I do, I can do it that way... but that's a lot of constantly ongoing work. I don't have spoons for that. I just want a way to tell my browser that if a site requests a font with a url starting with https://fonts.googleapis.com/css to instead replace that part of the url with https://fonts.bunny.net/css and pull from there instead. In theory that seems like it would be an easy thing, in practice, I don't know what to ask no AI DuckDuckGo to get me information to allow me to implement it. Searching the expected mix of Stylus and replace google fonts with bunny fonts just gets me shit about WordPress. Which is website side, not browser side, and therefore useless to me. (Also, not using WP for anything I manage, thanks.) — ¹ Look, the state of browser options is fucked. I currently find continuing to play whack a mole babysitting Firefox's settings to be easier to manage than trying to vet another browser to switch to. I am not looking for advice that requires me to switch browsers. If that's all you got, please just move on. #AskFedi #GoogleFonts #BunnyFonts #Firefox #Stylus

@len@nyan.network Mixed news: I use #Blokada, which does DNS filtering for the entire device (not just the browser) using the #Android VPN mechanism. Normally, if I use YouTube at all, I do it either in Firefox with uBlock Origin or in NewPipe. Disappointingly, if I experimentally open the YouTube app, I still see an advert. Google must be working around DNS-level ad-blockers by, for example, downloading content and adverts from the same domain. On the bright side, if I tap on an advert, the YouTube app tries to use #Firefox to open it, and #uBlockOrigin blocks that access. So it's not a complete solution, but changing the default browser to Firefox and installing uBlock Origin may be enough to keep your relative safe. Good luck! I've been in a similar situation to yours and I know how hard it is to protect elderly relatives from an adversarial technology ecosystem.

#SocialMedia I hereby am trying out a new plugin for #Obsidian: a post-thread-to-Mastodon plugin! It took a while for me to figure out how to actually get it to authenticate with #Mastodon; it simply would NOT do so. I tried on Linux; the results varied depending on which browser was set as my default browser; I tried both #Firefox and #Brave... I may even have tried #Waterfox too, I can't remember. [1/5]

@sjvn@mastodon.social #Linux adoption is likely to be higher even than that, because some Linux-users configure their browsers to identify as Windows for reasons of either compatibility or privacy. (For instance, if you enable #Firefox's "resist fingerprinting" setting, as I have, it identifies as Windows, regardless of OS.) @ZDNet@flipboard.com

for anybody else going nuts on #firefox dev edition/beta because the address bar eats your selection and your cursor: it'll be fixed real soon now. it's a problem with the default theme, so try a different one in the meantime.

""Starting with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (#RHEL) 10.2, #Firefox and #Thunderbird are delivered as Flatpaks by default. If you install RHEL with a graphical desktop, your browser and email client will now come from the #RedHat #Flatpak registry instead of traditional #RPM Package Managers (RPMs). What's a good alternative to #Mozilla #Firefox without crapware ? I just fresh installed it and had to remove widgets and VPN button. Then launched it again and some widgets and the VPN icon had come back! Balls to this. I had already been thinking it has been crappifying for a bit and today is the lastni want to put up with it.

PSA: uBlock Origin's EasyList has an AI Widgets option that doesn't get turned on by default, including if you had other EasyList items selected already before it was added. Enabling it removes a number of various AI buttons, nags, prompts, etc. across various sites. #AI #LLM #Firefox

Hey Mastodon! I think you can help me best! Firefox has become unusable. What is a good browser to switch to? Muni my concern is that the browser is not an immediate security vulnerability, which seems to be limiting the options a lot. #firefox #browser #foss
