Seriously, why does a site I visited once, months ago, need to store a 50 MB+ cookie on my local machine? (I know the answers; they aren't great) People, remember to check your cookies from time to time. #Internet #Browser

I'm trying @Waterfox@mastodon.social as browser from while, indeed is lighter as resources and the scrolling is, by default, a lot of smoother than other forks of Firefox I tried. Nice that includes also an adblock, that I pair with another privacy extension. The only minus, it lacks of .deb packages, and I have to resort on flatpacks. Well nothing is perfect, I guess. #foss #firefox #waterfox #browser

If you use a #web browser other than Apple Safari, there's an awesome #privacy preserving extension you can install called Privacy Badger. It's an excellent free tool that stops advertisers and other third-party trackers: If an advertiser seems to be tracking you across multiple websites without your permission, Privacy Badger automatically blocks that advertiser from loading any more content in your browser. To the advertiser, it’s like you suddenly disappeared. This isn't strictly an ad blocker. It helps preserve your online privacy. It's the first extension I install when I'm setting up a new browser, either for myself or a friend. We respect that people have different opinions on how the browser should look and feel and thus we provide the flexibility for you to get it your way. You can have a rich UI or you can hide it. No other browser has the level of functionality that we offer, but similarly you can make Vivaldi the most minimal browser as well. We listen to users both with respect to the things we add, but also what we do not add. Vivaldi is not an ad busines, like most of our competitors. We do not push AI. We do not push Crypto. look, I'm a simple girl: I want a #browser that I can use on my phone and my computer, that will let me sync tabs across the two, and that isn't Blink-based (because I think browser diversity is important for an open web). up to now, I'm yet to find an alternative to #Firefox that fits those criteria. suggestions welcome! #mozilla

Dear #network teachers, students and #hacker friends, I have a #browser based network simulator to enable learning #networking. Please have a look and tell me what do you think. Made for desktop or bigger screens. https://howcomputer.works/netsim/ Everything is in the browser, and there is documentation. The goal is to allow kids to start learning while their schools/systems are not big enough to be able to build lab networks. It has a small/minimal #curl implementation too. @bagder@mastodon.social
