Just about every consumer facing operating system, search engine and service is using AI now to some extent. I’ve seen folks switching to #openbsd from Linux/Mac/Windows…but what about other services? Proton has AI, and damn near every internet search engine has AI, even the ones that claim to be private and secure. I’d be interested in hearing some realistic tech stacks and workflows that don’t involve tools with AI in them or created with the help of AI. If you are willing to share please comment. #ai #noai #linux #macos #windows

I love how about every 6-9 months my desktop's time machine drive fills up and doesn't want to clean up after itself. Manual intervention is required and I have not had great luck with 'tmutil delete' reliably freeing up space. Erase and start from scratch works though. #sysadmin #macos

We began our careers designing on and for the Mac platform, so it’s always nice to return to our roots. Red Rome Logic recently asked us to come up with some UI ideas for CANCraft, their Mac-based, pro-grade automotive diagnostic software. Taking visual cues from vehicle livery and transit maps, this was a fun project to take for a spin. Need help on a project? https://iconfactory.com #AppDesign #macOS #UI #dev

Kirjautua. Ja odottaa taas sisäänkirjautumista, kun jatkaa. #apple #macos

Did you know your macOS app can extend its functionality to the entire system? System-wide services let users access your app's features from any app via the Services menu - and it's simpler to implement than you'd expect. 🔗: https://nilcoalescing.com/blog/macOSSystemWideServices/ by Natalia Panferova (@natpanferova@mastodon.social) #macOS #Swift #Developer

I got frustrated for the last time with website rendering and UI in Safari, and so in two days this week, I went through two browsers. First I went to Opera, based on using it decades ago, but it was clunky. Then I remember hearing about Vivaldi Browser and wow, I love it! Took hours of work to make these two transitions, but I'm glad I did. #VivaldiWebBrowser #Safari #OperaBrowser #MacOS #iOS

@ppb1701@ppb.social Connect any iPhone to something that monitors traffic — for example, a DNS service such as AdGuard DNS or Control D. You will notice that your iPhone makes more outbound connections than Microsoft Windows 11. Anytime an Apple user tells me that Apple is better for privacy, I can’t help but roll my eyes and think about how they’ve been tricked into believing that. #iPhone #Apple #iOS #macOS
