Im Fediverse seit 26.04.2022 Hier her umgezogen aus dem TrötCafe. Den ersten Kaffee gibt es schon morgens im Bett. Ich koche und backe gerne und bekomme beides inzwischen auch recht gut hin. Backen klappt besser als kochen. Begeistert für die Fliegerei. Am liebsten fliege ich selber. Das Meer ist für mich ein Ort der Ruhe. Ich bin für die Legalisierung von Cannabis und gleichzeitig für die Regulierung der Abgabe von Alkohol und Nikotin. Oft in Südwest England (Devon) anzutreffen. Meine Boosts stellen nicht immer meine Meinung dar. Im Rahmen der Umstrukturierung meines Netzwerkes hier war ich gestern tatsächlich wieder einmal gezwungen #Windows auf meinem Rechner zu booten. Was mich dazu gezwungen hat ist ein sehr häßlicher Bug in der Konfigurationsoberfläche bei den VLANs nach 802.1Q bei meinem #Switch, einem #Netgear #JGS524Ev2.
Der Bug schlägt zu, wenn man die #PVID eines Ports ändern will. Die Änderung wird nicht angenommen. Workaround: Man sucht sich einen beliebigen Port aus der vor dem liegt, den man ändern möchte. Also z.b. Port 5, wenn ich Port 10 ändern möchte. Den Port 5 nimmt man nun in das #VLAN auf, welches man als PVID für Port 10 einstellen möchte. Dann geht man in den PVID Screen. Dort klickt man Port 5 an, trägt die PVID ein, die in Port 10 soll, klickt dann Port 10 an, trägt dort ebenfalls die PVID ein und klickt dann übernehmen. Resultat: Port 5 ist unverändert und Port 10 hat die gewünschte PVID. Und nun nimmt man Port 5 wieder aus den VLAN heraus.

"Microsoft erklärte ..., dass die App zwar KI für #Gesichtserkennung nutze, diese personenbezogenen Daten würden jedoch nicht für das Training von KI genutzt."
Selbstverfreilich sind die Absichten dieses Konzerns gaaanz sicher rein altruistischer Natur.

Microsoft confirms Windows 11’s File Explorer Properties dialog is a real WinUI rebuild, and more legacy dialogs are moving to WinUI next.
Microsoft says that their plan is to convert more Windows UI elements to WinUI3, while confirming that the new File Explorer Properties dialog was rebuilt from scratch in WinUI, and not just a fresh coat of paint.
Windows 11 has felt inconsistent for a while now. Modern panels are right next to decades-old dialogs, RAM usage keeps creeping up in apps that are supposed to be native, and popular Windows apps keep turning into web wrappers because developers don’t trust Microsoft to stick with a UI framework.

When you work on a #Microsoft #windows laptop with a small SSD, you have to manage disk space a bit more tightly. So what's the deal with #Google #Chrome On-device #AI installing a Gemini-Nano model taking up 4GB? For the sake of #privacy it is said that it runs entirely on your #hardware rather than remote servers, not sending data to the #cloud I've got two comments on this:
- Going to avoid using this on my personal laptop.
- Glad I'm a #VivaldiBrowser user, no AI nonsense or additional workload on the CPU and disk for something I didn't ask.

Patrząc na to co się dzieje z Windowsem i jego rekomendacjami odnośnie ilości pamięci RAM dziwię się, że toleruje się fuszerę Microsoftu w tworzeniu systemów operacyjnych. Głosy oburzenia to gówno, krytyka przy jednoczesnym pozostaniu na Windowsie to tolerancja fuszerki.
Mój leciwy laptop z 8 GB RAM i Debianem ani razu nie dał mi sygnału zbyt małej ilości pamięci, tymczasem w pracy świeży laptop z Windowsem z taką samą ilością pamięci nie potrafi ogarnąć przeglądarki. Tragedia.
I to nie tak, że Microsoft nie potrafi. Potrafi. Wystarczy zobaczyć jak działa Xbox, który tak naprawdę jest Windowsem. Świetny, działający, w miarę niezawodny system. Także da się. Ale nie w sektorze użytkowego Windowsa, bo od W7 chyba za duże przegrodzenie położyli na wszystko.
