"The game" except you lose every time you recognise that bland black lettering of GPT image generation in some picture on the internet

My superpower/achilles heel is that I can only write in the same florid prose that I use when speaking out loud so I will never be able to accidentally sound like ChatGPT

I learnt only this week that you can install a special Bluetooth Log profile on an iPhone and trigger an analytics dump that includes full HCI logs. Incredibly useful for debugging weird stuff that's invisible at the high level Core Bluetooth API.

Ah yeah, it sucks when there’s a “change in the radio frequency”. Always makes a mess. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-05-26/technical-issues-force-cancellation-vivid-drone-show-monday/106721200

@serriadh@social.treehouse.systems Tbf this is a general Android requirement - they figure if some app asks to scan wifi/bluetooth then it can likely guess your location anyway so better to ask the user explicitly. The fact that this ALSO grants access to GPS is, however, somewhat bonkers.

Awesome, the min-publish-age #rustlang RFC was merged last week, for protecting yourself against freshly published malware updates. Always thought this was a very sensible idea. https://rust-lang.github.io/rfcs//3923-cargo-min-publish-age.html

Nice post about building an efficient AX.25 demodulator in C from first principles, by OK5VAS: https://uart.cz/2959/from-afsk-to-goertzel/

I have to admire FSF's optimism in emailing (I assume) every Australian in their CRM (twice) that there's going to be a 1hr meetup in the outer suburbs of Sydney. 1000km away.

Past me thought it would be "good for consistency" if the test and prod Postgres servers used the same creds and DB name. Today I started using the same machine for dev and prod and you can guess the rest. (No, no important data even in prod, just slow to recalculate - I would've had a backup otherwise.)

After years mostly playing around on budget VPSes it's wonderful seeing how much load you can throw at a normal 8-year-old bare metal PC without weird I/O bottlenecks

Remember that if you like a blog post you have the option to email a compliment to the author. They don’t always reply but some of them get a kick out of it!
