SwiftUI introduced a range of new toolbar customization APIs in iOS 27. They give us more control over how toolbars adapt as apps become resizable and appear in more contexts. I explored all the new additions, with examples showing how each one works: https://nilcoalescing.com/blog/AdaptiveSwiftUIToolbarsInIOS27/ #iOSDev #SwiftUI

Hi, I'm Raul — Air Force vet, ex-real-estate-broker, now a Senior Software Engineer at Dell (HashiCorp/IBM Vault) who also ships iOS apps solo under Big Beard Apps: Feastmark (no-analytics recipe app, in App Review), PayoffPilot (debt payoff), and a couple more close behind. #Introduction #iOSDev #IndieDev #DevOps #CareerChange

Supporting multiple iOS versions in SwiftUI doesn’t have to mean duplicating views. I wrote about a few patterns I use to keep compatibility code clean from conditional modifiers to a .backport namespace. 📖 https://dev.to/emadbeyrami/supporting-multiple-ios-versions-in-swiftui-without-turning-your-views-into-a-mess-52oc #SwiftUI #Swift #iosdev #iosdevelopment #Apple

Hi friends, so I'm now without a job and needing to find some work super quickly. I'm looking for iOS / macOS / visionOS work in Melbourne Australia or remote. Also able to do Ruby web and backend work. Please get in touch or point me in the direction of any leads. Boosts appreciated. #iOSDev #macOSDev #webDev #rubyDev #getFediHired

Long-time follower, finally posting. I'm a solo developer building websites with Astro and small apps for athletes, audiophiles, and artists. The a-spectrum, as I've started calling it. I'm one of them, which is how most of my ideas begin. All of it lives at spectral.run.

So I've been working away at a new project that hopefully addresses the common problem indie developers have around "how can I keep track of where the releases are at for my many different projects". So I built a web app and it's now live at https://shipwhenready.app Would love some feedback on it. #indieDev #iOSDev #macOSDev #webDev

Stop thinking of SwiftUI as a view tree; it's a demand-driven attribute graph. Once you realize it's just a giant set of rules and cached values, the "magic" of State and identity actually makes sense. 🔗: https://aleahim.com/blog/swiftui-is-one-graph/ by Mihaela Jakić #iOSDev #SwiftUI

I recently launched http://SwiftUIArchitecture.com Over the years, I've come across many excellent articles, WWDC sessions, videos, books, and open source projects about SwiftUI architecture. Instead of letting those resources get lost, I wanted to put them all in one place. The site is a curated collection of high-quality SwiftUI architecture resources that I personally recommend. I'll continue adding new resources as I discover them. I hope you find it useful. #SwiftUI #iOSDev #AppleDev

Are conditional view modifiers a good idea in SwiftUI? Short interview question. Long answer. Apple’s Xcode 27 swiftui-expert-skill and objc.io both point the same way. I wrote the answer I’d give in the interview with real world examples: https://emredegirmenci.substack.com/p/are-conditional-view-modifiers-a #swiftlang #iosdev #swiftui

#swiftui never got an update to make TimelineProvider more async friendly and it's not coming with #Xcode27, so I finally got around to making my own incredibly lightweight wrapper. Feel free to checkout and use AsyncTimelineProvider. https://github.com/Rspoon3/AsyncTimelineProvider #iosdev #ios #swift

When storing custom values in properties of an @Observable, it’s recommended to make them Equatable to minimize SwiftUI view updates. I’ve just published a post looking at how @Observable handles equal assignments and why Equatable conformance matters: https://nilcoalescing.com/blog/EquatablePropertiesInObservableClasses/ #SwiftUI #iOSDev

Here's how Notefile 3.0 looks on macOS 15, compared to macOS 26 and macOS 27. I'm incredibly unhappy with what Liquid Glass is doing here. It's possible to remove the glass effect by setting isBordered to false on NSToolbarItem, but that doesn't work for certain controls like the search field. I don't think iOS offers any more control. These buttons are not the focus of the UI, but Liquid Glass makes them so. #MacDev #iOSDev

I finally updated my main laptop to macOS 26. I was hoping to just wait for 27, but, unfortunately work needs to be done. (Apple will only accept apps built with Xcode 26 now, and UIDesignRequiresCompatibility has *unique bugs* so it's time to support liquid glass.) Anyway here's Xcode 26.6 on macOS 26.5.2—the current release version of each. It's borderline unusable; I need to keep the inspector closed now unless I'm actively using it. #MacDev #iOSDev #Xcode

Hello, fediverse. We're Catchlight: a private notes, tasks and reminders app for iPhone. Made by one person, out of frustration that our thoughts have quietly become data to buy and sell. One calm place for everything. No account, no servers. Zero-knowledge, encrypted on your device with a key only you hold. Open source, so the privacy can be verified, not just trusted. Not out yet, building it in the open. Glad to be here. #introduction #Privacy #iOSDev #BuildInPublic #FOSS

👋 I'm Omar. I cluster app-store and playstore reviews into the handful of problems actually driving churn - each backed by a real user quote and I'll be posting teardowns of apps you know here (first one's an RSS reader you'll recognize). Building it into a tool, Verbatim. Indie devs & PMs - feedback always welcome. #introduction #iOSDev
