I have some really exciting stuff coming to all you Makko (​:makko_bnuuy:​) users!

Makko now:

  • Weighs 10 times less.
  • Is 5 times faster.
  • Automatically generates IDs for headers.
  • Can generate a Table-Of-Content
  • Can do video embeds
  • Can do checkmark lists
  • Has a better and more accurate implementation of GFM (Github Flavored Markdown)
  • Has a better CLI with colors and all!
  • Compiles much faster.

We’ve reworked a lot of how Makko works now, but everything should still be 100% backwards-compatible, so your sites should just work better, and build faster!

… Except… We’re not fully sure, since we still have to iron out some of the weirder stuff that’s going on, so stay on-channel because We’ll be dropping experimental binaries for anyone interested, anytime soon!

Cuando no estaba la función de agregar Mark down o html me parecía que faltaba algo. Ahora está la función o será que ahora utilizo moshidón y está la función no estoy seguro. Pero cuando hago clic en el iconito ese del lapicito y la letra a... ¿Para qué usar esto? Eso es lo que me pregunto. #markdown #html

#ThiefMD, edytor #Markdown, którego długo używałem do lokalnego pisania tekstów na bloga¹, od dawna nie miał aktualizacji. Ostatnie wydanie wyszło w połowie 2023 i od tego czasu była cisza. Program używał jeszcze Gtk3 i wymagał trzymania w systemie starych bibliotek, które już od dłuższego czasu miały status niewspieranych. W końcu przesiadłem się na #Scratchmark², bardzo młody program zainspirowany ThiefMD i używam go do teraz, mimo kilku braków. Aż tu nagle zaczęły przychodzić powiadomienia z GitHuba, że coś się dzieje w repozytorium ThiefMD. Ucieszyłem się, że projekt żyje i że zanosi się na nową wersję, tym razem już w Gtk4. Niestety, sporą częścią tych powiadomień były informacje o kodzie, który napisał lub przejrzał i zaproponował poprawki microslopowy #Copilot… Kilka godzin temu wyszła ta nowa wersja, a ja zupełnie nie mam ochoty jej testować. Ktoś może zapytać: „co za różnica, jak powstał kod, skoro program działa?”, ale dla mnie to jednak dealbreaker. Zużycie energii i wody przy trenowaniu modeli czy np. zajeżdżanie serwerów projektów FOSS przez crawlery, nie wspominając o takich „drobiazgach” jak historie opowiadane przez znajomych programistów, których firmy wymuszają korzystanie z AI, to wszystko powoduje, że na „silva rerum” nie będzie recenzji nowej wersji ThiefMD. ¹ https://horodecki.net/2023/05/23/blogowanie-ze-zlodziejem/ ² https://horodecki.net/2025/07/23/pow-9-edytor-md-zrzuty-ekranu-i-okragle-zdjecia/

@pheonix@hachyderm.io the thing is that there are many, many safe existing libraries to properly render and parse #Markdown without exposing yourself to RCE. But my guess is that some project manager at #Microsoft simply went like “nah, I don’t want to wrestle with those licensing issues - just implement a Markdown parser/renderer from scratch, with this over-stretched team of 3 contractors, and get it done by the end of the quarter”.
