New page on #BurgeonLab ➡️ https://burgeonlab.com/junited-2026/ It's #Junited2026, where you share links to blog posts you enjoyed in the month of June. Sharing is caring, and I love the small web / IndieWeb, so this is a lovely initiative by Robert Birming (the creator of this community event). #blog #blogging #smallweb #smolweb #indieweb #junited #bloggers #personalsites #personalsite #personalblog #blogger

if 💥 you 💥 make 💥 your 💥 users 💥 open a 💥 terminal 💥 to use 💥 or install 💥 your tool 💥 or service 💥 it is NOT 💥 beginner-friendly if you want to lower barriers for more people to participate in this side of the web, build GUIs or develop some kind of interface and stop half-assing it. #indieweb #opensource #smallweb

A neat idea to make a website a more social experience. "I wanted presence, not a social network. Something lightweight and temporary. A small reminder that there are other people here too." https://cauenapier.com/blog/townsquare/ #websites #PersonalWebsite #indieweb #SmallWeb

@kaia@pleroma.soykaf.com It sort of exists. But it's cluttered with a lot of waste and malicious #web sites and obstructed by search engines that don't surface the stuff that I'd like to find with them. In creating this alternative internet (call it #SmallWeb or whatever) we also have to take care of making it findable. Creating blogrolls and directories, using inline links and link lists as much as possible, sharing OPML files and posting about interesting or important pages is good. But it doesn't help very much in the scenario where someone is using a search engine that seems to almost entirely ignore those indicators of valuable content. So for me the main question currently is: How do we (/I) support alternative #SearchEngines? Or do we have to make us stop using them like we have to abstain from using #BigTech products?

Browsing through @kagihq@mastodon.social's #smallweb with all the cool nerd projects, niche hobbies and other random obscurities is so fun it kinda makes me want to start my own blog. No idea what I'd write about and if anyone would ever want to read any of it, I just somehow want to be part of it. 😛

A few months ago I shared a guide on how to make a website in (about) five minutes with as little code as possible. And if that's still too much code, here's a follow up with almost none. Hope you'll enjoy! https://stefanbohacek.com/blog/how-to-make-a-website-in-5-minutes-almost-no-code-version/ #tutorial #PersonalSites #MakeAWebsite #SmallWeb #indieweb

@blog@shkspr.mobi Such a great read. Thank you for the thoroughness. I loved this. We need a new way to measure the #smallSocial effect. Right now people saw we fail because they only look at one platform. #BigTech had to invent "monthly active users" to help people understand their "value". They're trying to measure us the same, but we're nowhere near the same. We're an evolution and no one will ever truly know how many of us there are. So I beg folks, don't look at one or two or three instances and say that because some arbitrary number goes down that we're losing or dieing. No no no. We're growing and learning and finding ways that Big Tech NEVER wanted to exist. Just because they use a yard stick doesn't mean we need to be constrained by that. EVERYONE please keep up the incredible work. I'll fight for this the #restOfMyLife. How about all of you? #RomL #smallSocial #smallWeb #fedi #Fediverse

HTML used to (mostly) be a format for reading and writing documents. As time went on, it got changed to an application format. These 2 use-cases (doc vs app) are at odds. One of the motivations in the small-net / small-web space is to take HTML back to its document format roots. Although some have have chosen to use alternative document formats such as Gemini's and Mercury's GemText. @talon@dragonscave.space RE: https://dragonscave.space/@talon/116456716105999739 #GeminiProtocol #MercuryProtocol #SmallNet #SmallWeb #SmolNet #SmolWeb

🥳 New Kitten Release This one fixes a bug that you would have encountered had you had an asynchronous component (component with asynchronous render method) nested more than one-level deep within synchronous components. (Kitten’s html renderer transparently supports both synchronous and asynchronous render methods.) So, this (taken from my unit test), for example, works correctly now: ```js class AsynchronousOtherName extends KittenComponent { async html () { await new Promise(resolve => setTimeout(resolve, 10)) return kitten.html`Balkan` } } class SynchronousName extends KittenComponent { /* NOT async */ html () { return kitten.html`Aral <${AsynchronousOtherName.connectedTo(this)} />` } } class SynchronousTemplate extends KittenComponent { html ({ SLOT }) { return kitten.html`[Before slot]${SLOT}[After slot]` } } class MyPage extends KittenPage { html () { return kitten.html` <${SynchronousTemplate.connectedTo(this)}> This should render all at once after a short delay.

Hello, <${SynchronousName.connectedTo(this)} />

For those who are posting about #SmallWeb Have you read "Small Is Beautiful: Economics as if People Mattered" by E.F. Schumacher (published in 1973)?

Looking for someone who is involved in #Indieweb to participate in online event for Backdrop CMS. We'd like you to facilitate a discussion about what the Indieweb is? What's it's up to in 2026? And if there are opportunities for our open source community to be more involved? https://events.backdropcms.org/ We welcome volunteers or referrals! #smallweb
