New page on #BurgeonLab ➡️ https://burgeonlab.com/junited-2026/ It's #Junited2026, where you share links to blog posts you enjoyed in the month of June. Sharing is caring, and I love the small web / IndieWeb, so this is a lovely initiative by Robert Birming (the creator of this community event). #blog #blogging #smallweb #smolweb #indieweb #junited #bloggers #personalsites #personalsite #personalblog #blogger

if 💥 you 💥 make 💥 your 💥 users 💥 open a 💥 terminal 💥 to use 💥 or install 💥 your tool 💥 or service 💥 it is NOT 💥 beginner-friendly if you want to lower barriers for more people to participate in this side of the web, build GUIs or develop some kind of interface and stop half-assing it. #indieweb #opensource #smallweb

A neat idea to make a website a more social experience. "I wanted presence, not a social network. Something lightweight and temporary. A small reminder that there are other people here too." https://cauenapier.com/blog/townsquare/ #websites #PersonalWebsite #indieweb #SmallWeb

"I created my first web site in 1995. I hosted the site with my ISP, a local provider in Kirksville, MO. The ISP generously gave its customers a few megabytes of space if they wanted to host a site. The term "static" site didn't really exist then, because most if not all sites were static sites. Just HTML and a few images. No CSS, and certainly no JavaScript—which had not yet been invented." #Indieweb #smolweb https://dissociatedpress.net/blog/smolweb.html

Made a new #personalwebsite. One that's not connected to my other life. Just a place to post thoughts and ideas that are hopefully helpful or at least amusing to someone sometime. #website #web #indieweb https://askdna.coffee/

Note to you:

  1. Use an RSS reader to curate your feeds.
  2. Start your own blog.
  3. Generously share posts and cross link to other independent websites.
  4. Read and write often.
  5. Comment thoughtfully.
  6. Explore liminal and boundary spaces & ideas.
  7. Shun AI and break the algorithms.

Figuring things out always feels good. 🙂 The desktop version of my Jekyll-powered blog now displays footnotes on mouse hover using plain ol' HTML and CSS. No JS necessary! The existing footnote functionality is unchanged for people who prefer reading footnotes at the bottom of the page. #IndieWeb #PersonalWeb #HTML #CSS #NoJavaScript

Hhypothesis: Developers who came out of the #indieweb communities are conceptually more comfortable with the #agenticweb ideas, as basically they have been doing it for years. #POSSE, which is the beating heart of all things indieweb, isn't LIKE agentic social and web publishing - it IS Agentic web and social publishing. 🔗 https://indieweb.org/POSSE

I like this quote from The Boring Internet (about how a lot of it's still around, just overshadowed by the glitzy, extractive, corporate net, and we can still build on top of that foundation) The boring internet isn't protected by innocence. It's protected by awkwardness. also: Every property that made these protocols feel old and uncool to you in 2014 is part of what's keeping them alive in 2026. #InternetHistory #PersonalWeb #IndieWeb #IStillFunction

A few months ago I shared a guide on how to make a website in (about) five minutes with as little code as possible. And if that's still too much code, here's a follow up with almost none. Hope you'll enjoy! https://stefanbohacek.com/blog/how-to-make-a-website-in-5-minutes-almost-no-code-version/ #tutorial #PersonalSites #MakeAWebsite #SmallWeb #indieweb

I love this concept. Private blogging first where no one can access it unless you give them access. Does anyone know of similar, private first, blogging services I can share with people that wanna blog but *not* have it open to the whole internet without changing a bunch of settings? https://havenweb.org/faq.html #Blogging #Blog #Indieweb #Privacy

There's a lot of great explanation sites about the fediverse and its various communities, and I wanted to take a stab at this myself. https://jointhefediverse.net The site (very much work in progress) is aimed at a more casual audience. Let me know what you think! #fediverse #SocialMedia #OpenWeb #IndieWeb #JoinTheFediverse
