iOS 27 Beta 5. Item description can now describe anything in voiceover focus. Live recognition Scene mode now describes continuously with context, so it just says what's changed instead of reading everything over and over again. Now that's magical! Imagine having that in a pair of glasses, either on-device or running on a connected iPhone. #accessibility #blind #iOS

I mean, I *think* this is a well known trick in the Shortcuts community? But if you’re adding custom icons to your Homescreen to launch apps, adding the “Nothing” action first prevents a Shortcuts notification from showing when you launch it. #Shortcuts #Apple #iOS #iPadOS #iPhone

I am working on the upcoming release of the @manfred_app@techhub.social, it will contain some nice features and improvements:

Tooltips for hashtags and profiles
Higlighting of followed hashtags in posts
When adding alt text to images, there should now be enough space on phones
Hashtags now get a graph drawn, like you may know it from other clients
Search (aka Discover) and Notifications now get a special handling in the column ecosystem of Manfred – this is still kind of work in progress, though
The grouped list of avatars in notifications and on a profile now always open a bottom up sheet when tapped or clicked
Under #macOS you can now CMD+F to search

It is really nice to see the power of #Flutter making this possible for #macOS, #Android and #iOS with a single codebase.

Introducing Audio Showdown, a new game that @ChanceyFleet@mas.to and I built! She built the original web version after being inspired by the Power Showdown table at the #NFB Jernigan Institute, and I ported it over to #iOS to take advantage of VoiceOver's Direct Touch feature. This is audio-based air hockey or Showdown, where you track the location of the puck using customizable sound cues. Listen for the puck location and movement, then use your finger as the paddle. Use "Where the duck is the puck?" mode to hear how the sounds change in different parts of the table. I even built in little features like a Board Ball, a penalty for hitting the puck too hard in Showdown mode. Security Bulletin: WebKit's handling of passkeys can cause iCloud Private Relay to leak your device's real IP address. The same behaviour affects all iOS browsers that rely on proxy connections to hide the device's IP, including Psylo, Onion Browser, and other proxy or Tor browsers on iOS. The IP address is exposed as soon as you open a website that supports passkeys, even if you never try to sign in with one. For example, simply opening facebook[.]com in Safari is enough to expose your real IP address to Facebook. We also found two more WebKit issues: • DNS prefetching bypasses the proxy tunnel and leaks DNS queries. • WebTransport ignores the established proxy connection and exposes the device's real IP address. These behaviours affect Safari and all proxy browsers on iOS, since Apple requires all iOS browsers to use WebKit. Note that VPNs are not affected by these issues, since they tunnel the device's entire network traffic at the system level. We've updated Psylo to disable passkeys and WebTransport by default in all silos, and you can re-enable them per silo. We also disabled DNS prefetching entirely. Please update to version 1.3.1. I created #CastLab after coming back from holidays. I just wanted to cast my media to my TV and could not find a simple open source app for that, so I built one. It has grown since: it supports #Kodi and the open source #FCast protocol. I was even surprised to see it also used to cast music to network speakers. I will keep working on your feedback.
