LA NOTIZIA: Statista cercasi Siamo quasi a fine legislatura e il bilancio del governo Meloni, cifre alla mano, mi pare disastroso. Rinaldo Modini via email Gentile lettore, la narrativa del “che bravi, siamo la locomotiva d’Europa” non fa più ridere, fa mestizia: è una bandiera lacera sul campo di battaglia d’una disfatta. Il Paese è massacrato: prezzi alle stelle (l’energia da noi è la più cara d’Europa), la crescita del Pil è la più bassa d’Europa, record mondiale nel calo del potere d’acquisto. Meloni ha firmato senza esitare il Patto di stabilità, la nostra condanna: con deficit superiore al 3% c’è procedura d’infrazione e zero sforamenti al bilancio. Il nostro 3,1% ci inchioda. Sarebbe bastato evitare alcune costose scempiaggini fortissimamente volute da lei, tipo il centro profughi in Albania e il Liceo del Made in Italy (la scuola meno frequentata del mondo: 4 iscritti per liceo), o porre la tassa sugli extraprofitti delle banche. Avremmo evitato la schiavitù dello 0,1%. Non basta. Meloni ha firmato a cuor leggero anche il diktat trumpiano di dedicare alla difesa la stellare cifra del 5% del Pil (gli stessi Usa non superano il 4,3%). Anche questo si ritorce contro di noi: siamo costretti a tagliare risorse al welfare e alla sanità e in più ad attivare il Safe, il prestito europeo per le armi (sì, Meloni ha firmato anche quello), ri-indebitandoci e pagando gli interessi. Insomma, dopo quattro anni di governo il bilancio è una disfatta. È qui che si vede la differenza tra uno capace e una modesta politica della Garbatella che si piega a 90 gradi e firma qualunque cosa benefici gli altri. Ci servirebbe uno statista, ahimè. Ad averne. Il Fatto Quotidiano: Prodi contro la candidatura tedesca alla guida della Nato: “Se la Germania pensa di essere leader dell’Europa, la Ue è finita”. Su La7 “La più bella definizione di Europa che abbia mai sentito è questa: l’Unione europea è un’unione di minoranze. Se la Germania pensa di poter essere il leader dell’Europa, l’Unione europea è finita“. Sono le parole pronunciate a Piazzapulita (La7) dall’ex presidente del Consiglio Romano Prodi, che critica fortemente la recente iniziativa della Germania: candidarsi ad assumere una maggiore responsabilità di leadership nella Nato, in vista del ridimensionamento dell’impegno statunitense in Europa. Una mossa che segna un cambio di paradigma storico per Berlino, tradizionalmente prudente sul piano militare. L’ex presidente della Commissione europea, da sempre convinto europeista, lancia un avvertimento duro contro l’ipotesi di una leadership tedesca, sia nell’Alleanza atlantica che nel progetto europeo: “Con tutto il rispetto e l’affetto che io ho per la Germania, io credo che non lo pensi davvero. L’idea che ci sia un solo paese al comando vuol dire che gli altri non ci stanno, vuol dire la fine dell’Europa. Questo è quello che noi dobbiamo capire”. Il professore sottolinea poi il vero motore storico dell’integrazione europea: l’asse franco-tedesco. “L’Europa si è sempre retta su una alleanza Germania-Francia – osserva – con Italia e Spagna che hanno aiutato questa componente. L’Europa va avanti quando Germania e Francia sono fratelli. Oggi sono amici, ma non sono fratelli e quindi non c’è nessun accordo su come gestire insieme la necessità di difesa che abbiamo adesso”. Prodi collega la questione della difesa al più ampio contesto economico e geopolitico. L’Europa, spiega, deve dotarsi di un “ordinamento economico unitario che è necessario per le nuove economie con la concorrenza cinese-americana”. Ma questo, a suo giudizio, non può essere guidato da un solo Stato membro della Ue: “Lo può fare un paese solo? No, perché suscita immediatamente la reazione degli altri”. Public accounts: EU forecasts, 'Superbonus weighs on Italy's debt trajectory' Brussels, May 21 (Adnkronos) - The Superbonus continues to weigh on the trajectory of Italy's public finances, according to what was detected by the European Commission in the spring economic forecasts presented today, which see Italy’s debt-to-GDP ratio swelling to 139.2% in 2027 compared to the 137.1% recorded in 2025.
