As a parent who has been living in blessed ignorace of Paw Patrol, today I took the kid to her first cinema experience to see Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie. And I'm making this everyone's problem because I have So. Many. Questions. Luckily I was taking notes. Thread 🧵 #parenting #PawPatrol #cinemastodon

Travel can be very stressful - especially if you're a parent & are the primary person in charge of packing. One of the most useful things I've ever done is create a Master Pack List that covers the average week long trip. It completely eliminates the mental load of figuring out what to pack. #travel #parenting #LifeHack

The kids now are in charge of their own. They roll a shirt, shorts, socks & undies into a roll & masking tape around it, then stack into the suitcase. A couple warm items. PJs, bathing suit. Done. Boys are easy - deodorant & toothbrush gets packed the morning of. We aren't a multiple pairs of shoes per person family & my own beauty products are pretty minimal. #travel #parenting

The Master List skews towards summer needs. There's a last minute (morning of) section & a section for camping-specific needs if applicable. This list keeps me sane. 🤣 #travel #parenting

Me: "Did you know that if you're in the vacuum of space, your lungs continue to do gas exchange, but because there's no air they just strip all the oxygen out of your blood? You've got something like 12 seconds before you're unconscious from hypoxia." Kids: "Wait, you were scared of the ghost story we told you by a fake campfire, but somehow you're okay knowing *this*!?" #parenting

An Australian supermarket is distributing Disney licensed figurines, and I almost died when I heard a child say "I guess I'll trade my Woody for Anxiety". #parenting

Life with a teenager. They reject you all day. And you’re happy when in the middle of the night they ask you to read Shakespeare together in preparation for theatre summer camp. 🥹 #parenting

Another parenthood thing no one warned me about: How many random strangers on the street/bus/train try to hand food to your child without asking. Like, a handful of meatloaf just now. What the hell, people. #parenting #WTF

"It's a dog eat dog world", said the 20-something dude who jumped on the bus before us and took the seat before we got there with the toddler. Should I let my daughter maul him?... #parenting #travel

If you make a mosquito bucket, please cover the top with screening so that toddlers don't fall in. Per the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, approximately 40 toddlers drown each year in the United States. Happens all over the world. Happens even when buckets are half full. #mosquitoes #buckets #health #safety #parenting #kids

"Mom, can I tell you a story?" "Sure honey, I'd love that." "BUT I DON'T WANNAAA!" ... anyway, how is everyone's summer vacation going? 😅 #parenting
