On this final Friday of my summer break before I return to begin a new school year, I’ve got turbulent thoughts swirling in my bewildered head. I start the year #teaching #Frankenstein and will have to find a way to temper my growing urge to rant furiously about the parallels to the #AI monster the tech bros have created. But unlike in the Mary Shelley universe, we’ve allowed this monster born out of hubris to seep into our reality and destroy us from within instead. #literature #Bookstodon

A woman who sexually abused a minor. Boxer Mike Tyson, who served time for rape. Both of these people successfully launched private schools that collected public money. Today was mainly a work day for the students- and for me- I got the bombarder table in place, and the bombarder coil wired into the tiny, very short trolley line system. I do hope they are able to lengthen it one day by suspending the aluminum frame from the roof. Check the image captions alt text to see details on each photo. The turquoise tube is for Tommy's Diner. I am gonna ride my bike to the studio, grab the neon and walk over to the diner to meet my students for breakfast, coffee and a neon install demo at the diner. FUN! Tomorrow the students will bombard- everyone has done it once or twice now, some students are amassing a few tubes to be bombarded and filled. I hope they get to make more tomorrow and am really excited about some of their designs. My Dad made this sculpture for the high school where he taught for many years. He's retired now. He used to teach religion and social sciences (Danish: samfundsfag - politics, anthropology, demography and more in a package) He also did a ton of sculptures in stone and wood over the years. I must say I really like this one as I look at it now and enjoy watching the celebrations of all the young adults finishing high school this week ❤️ #art #teaching
