If you make a mosquito bucket, please cover the top with screening so that toddlers don't fall in. Per the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, approximately 40 toddlers drown each year in the United States. Happens all over the world. One effect of having brought up a larger-than-average number of #kids through #teenage years, is having absolute zero tolerance for the #tv and #cinema #trope of "Teenagers are idiots who do everything in a maximally stupid way" as a plot device. I just stop watching, no regrets. Because, either they're over the top wrong, or they are so spot-on I get flashback stress.

My 15-year-old daughter just discovered feminist cinema criticism. a. This is awesome b. She consistently surprises me with how much she understands c. She got here by way of a video essay on youtube that might have oversimplified the thesis. This led her to hunt down the original (1984) paper, with some help from me d. She has printed the paper, bound it like a little book, and has spent the past two hours in her room reading it. #kids #parenting #awesome #win

Kids don't play "skip rope" any longer, do they? It was mostly little girls in my day (when wooly mammoths still roamed the earth) and we had the most gruesome skip rope rhymes.
