it makes me sad that i grew up all my life with the core knowledge that Nazis are bad.... and that seemed to be a universally held - and upheld - truth. But then everyone got addicted to social media platforms and now it's fine if those companies pay Nazis to post rage bait. People will just keep scrolling anyway. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08-06/ragebait-how-facebook-is-paying-controversial-creators/106940696 #socialmedia #facebook #meta #morality #laziness #memory #nazi #neonazi #corporateMedia #Fascism

Sandy Ernest Allen drove across the Catskills this year looking for Casa Susanna, the guesthouse where transfeminine people gathered through the '50s and '60s for twenty-five dollars a weekend. He found new construction. Hedges in burlap where the old trees stood. No plaque of any kind. What he had instead was his own living room, full of trans and queer neighbors eating cookies — gatherings he started after the 2025 inauguration for no better reason than that people needed somewhere to be. The house was the smaller half. The gathering is the part that survived, and it survived by being taken apart and rebuilt in a different county by a man who never met her and knew her only from photographs somebody found at a flea market. Susanna Valenti ran an entire guesthouse. I run a kitchen table in Georgia. It counts. This one is kept standing by readers. If it's worth a morning to you, the door's here: https://twp.ai/4huUPu Who kept a door open for you when it cost them something? #QueerHistory #TransHistory #CasaSusanna #LGBTQ #TransRights #Community #MutualAid #Pride #Solidarity #Photography #QuoteOfTheDay #Memory

8 yr old Jo Nagai was raising swallowtail butterflies in Kobe, Japan, when he noticed something odd. The butterflies he had tended as caterpillars seemed to recognize him. When he released them into the wild, they would fly right back to him. Was it possible they actually remembered him? Jo wrote a letter to an entomologist at Georgetown University, Dr. Martha Weiss. He asked if she could help him design an experiment, and she said yes. Jo trained caterpillars to associate the scent of lavender with a mild vibration. When the caterpillars became butterflies, 70% of them still avoided the scent. Their brains had been completely rebuilt during metamorphosis, yet the memory survived anyway. Then he bred them. The offspring, which had never been trained, also avoided lavender. So did their grandchildren. Without ever experiencing the vibration, generations of butterflies inherited an aversion to lavender their grandmother had been taught to fear. Jo presented his findings at the International Congress of Entomology in Kobe in 2024. He was 10. A second grader wrote a letter to a Georgetown professor, and together they found evidence that butterflies can pass memories down through generations. https://www.yahoo.com/news/science/articles/ten-old-butterfly-researcher-discovers-184204801.html #Butterflies #Science #Nature #Memory

#neuroscience #memory "Targeted magnetic stimulation of the brain shows promise for memory improvement A recent meta-analysis published in the journal eLife provides evidence that applying noninvasive magnetic stimulation to a specific brain network selectively enhances a person’s ability to remember past experiences. The findings suggest that targeting this brain circuit improves event-based memory without altering other cognitive skills. This provides a promising foundation for developing specialized treatments for memory disorders." https://www.psypost.org/targeted-magnetic-stimulation-of-the-brain-shows-promise-for-memory-improvement/

Why is RAM expensive? The answer might not be what you expect: https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/samsung-sk-hynix-and-micron-sued-over-alleged-dram-price-fixing-amid-record-memory-costs DRAM companies have actually been convicted for price fixing before: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRAM_price_fixing_scandal And this round has actually announced itself 3 years ago, when DRAM companies were scaling down production despite the predicted spike in demand: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/dram-and-nand-costs-are-increasing-due-to-production-cuts Just to put a number on the obvious "who benefits from this": Their stocks have gone up by 1200% to 2800% #DRAM #Memory #AI #DDR5

Tja. #kartell #micron #memory Alle IT zentral in Rechenzentren. Kein Auto fährt mehr ohne Anschluß an das RZ. Usw. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1jsbfouRQY

Back in college, my buddy said in early summer you can hear the corn grow. It shoots up so fast it squeaks. I said BS. So one night we thrashed our way into a big fleld, far from the road where it was quiet, and knelt down to listen. And he was right! But we failed to note how we got there. Wandered through that maze of maize in the dark for hours before stumbling out a half mile down the road, – scared, sweaty, dirty, and tired. That was a good night. #photography #RuralSouth #memory
