Chasteberry. One teaspoon dried, covered pot, fifteen minutes simmering, ten more off the heat. Peppery, faintly bitter, more broth than tea. The old remedy for hormonal weather — the cycle that arrives sideways, the perimenopausal months that feel like being renovated from the inside. #Herbalism #PlantMedicine #FolkMedicine #Chasteberry #Vitex #Apothecary #Herbs #Perimenopause #HormoneHealth #Druid #Pagan #EarthBased 1/2

It works on the pituitary's schedule, not yours. Three cycles before you judge it. And if you're on HRT of any kind, tell your prescriber first — chasteberry has opinions about prolactin. I had a glimpse of my future today: I had the pleasure of experiencing a sound bath today, with a microdose of DMT at the beginning. Absolutely glorious, uplifting experience! 12/10 would recommend! 💯 I cannot wait to experience my next sound bath paired with larger doses of this plant medicine! I shared my vision of future bliss with the right person, who has already set the event into motion, and in the perfect setting! And I have really enjoyed getting reacquainted with the spirit molecule, this past week. I've been so curious since my 2012 encounter with DMT, and I have finally been able to find a way to safely explore it again. When I was a 16 kid in the rural Ozarks (and still in fear of plant medicine), I remember reading a newspaper article about the use of cannabis by a native American group for religious/spiritual use, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993. It's so fantastic that 30+ years later, the same laws that protected their use of plant medicine still protects my use of psychedelic sacrament today (and also that I'm no longer holding onto any unfounded fears of plant medicine). 🍄🌱 Now that I'm more inform, I find it wild that I allowed myself to fear a substance I already make in my brain. Winding down these thoughts with Sturgill Simpson. 🐢 https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=z-25TEGtgW0 #DMT #Psychedlics #PlantMedicine

The weed in your driveway crack. You've stepped over it a thousand times. Common mallow — Malva neglecta — is the thing for a throat the wildfire smoke scraped raw. Pick a handful of young leaves, simmer them slow eight or ten minutes until the pot turns silky. That silk is mucilage. It coats and calms the way nothing off a pharmacy shelf quite manages. It grows for free in the one place nobody thinks to look. Which is most true things. What do you reach for when the air turns to smoke? The grey beard on the old oaks after rain — crotal, the Gaelic calls it, the lichen the trees wear like a wizard's whiskers. You can't cold-steep it. The usnic acid that does the work barely dissolves in water, so you simmer it low and covered for forty-five minutes, or steep it in high-proof spirit for weeks and pull a hot-water batch too, then combine. This is the one for a throat the wildfire smoke and July mold have sanded raw. Bitter as truth. Harvest only what's already fallen — the tree isn't done with the rest. Bruise a spoon of dried linden flowers into a mug of milk — dairy or oat. Warm it slow on the lowest flame, not to a boil, just to a tremble at the rim. Ten minutes. Strain, and drink at dusk. It tastes of honey and hay and something older than either. The heat this week is a hand on the sternum before the app even confirms the number. This is one small mercy you can make with your own two hands.
