Five days past Lughnasadh, and the land is showing it. Goldenrod cracking open along the highway shoulders. Elderberries turning from green to blood-dark. The first joe-pye weed standing purple and shoulder-high in the ditches. The Perseids already scratching the northeast sky, building toward the peak. The light leaves a few minutes earlier each evening now, so slightly that you feel it in your shoulders before you see it in the sky — the way you always know a room has emptied before you turn to look. *Tha an talamh a' cumail cunntais.* The earth keeps the count. It was counting before there was anyone here to argue about what the count meant. What's turned where you are this week? https://twp.ai/4huPiY #Lughnasadh #Gàidhlig #ScottishGaelic #Goldenrod #Perseids #Nature #Photography #Druid #Folklore #Wildflowers #BloomScrolling #Community #Solidarity

Fosgail an geata. Fàg fosgailte e. Open the gate. Leave it open. That's the whole instruction. It has one moving part. You either move it or you don't, and everything else I wrote this morning is me trying to say that in Gaelic and failing at a decent length. What's the smallest gate you could unbolt today? #Gàidhlig #MastoDaoine #ScottishGaelic #Gaelic #Language #Folklore #Druid #Celtic #Blessing #Community #Solidarity #QueerNews 1/2

Pick a handful of leaves in the morning while the dew still beads on them, rinse, then steep four teaspoons fresh (or two dried) in just-off-the-boil water, covered, ten minutes. Astringent, faintly green-bitter. Copan an driùchd — the cup of the dew, which is what the old tongue calls it, because the folded leaf catches the night's water in a silver bead and alchemists once gathered that bead for their work. Traditional use is astringent: a cooled infusion as a mouth rinse or a wash for scrapes. A gentle plant, not a dramatic one. Skip it if you're pregnant or nursing, and if bleeding worries you, a plant is a companion to a doctor, never a substitute. #DeepSummer #Nature #Foraging #Druid #Pagan #EarthBased #Phenology #Georgia #Garden #Solidarity #Photography #Gaelic #NatureWriting

Elderberry oxymel, cold-macerated, for the throat that autumn is already sharpening. Clean pint jar, a third full of dried elderberries. Raw apple cider vinegar to the halfway mark, raw honey to the shoulder. Lid it, shake it, dark cupboard, two to four weeks. Shake it whenever you remember. Strain. A tablespoon in hot water when the scratch starts. Dried, always — raw elderberry is not food, and the drying is what makes her medicine instead of a bad night. Nothing gets boiled here, so nothing volatile gets driven off. What you pour out four weeks from now tastes like vinegar and woods and something faintly like plum. She's droman. She's going purple right now, about two weeks ahead of the birds stripping her. What do you reach for when the throat starts to go? The elderberries went purple in the fence row this week. Right on time. Two days ahead of Lùnastal. Today is also the day humanity finished the year. July 30 — Earth Overshoot Day. Every renewable thing the planet makes in twelve months, spent, with five months of bills still coming. The earth didn't send a notice. She posted the entry and went right on pulling water up through the roots of everything within a hundred yards of my porch, against gravity, in a column no engineer has ever reproduced. Friday is the first harvest anyway. She's holding up her end of a bargain we quit honoring somewhere around the Nixon administration, and every spring she does it again. Tha an talamh a' cumail cunntais — the earth keeps accounts. What's ripening near you right now that you'd miss if you didn't go look? Another artfight piece I painted for Floral_Lion ! It was extremely fun to paint this one, I love portraying scenes like these , spore druids always give so much room for playing with textures and colors! #dragonborn #druid #dnd #ttrpg #rpg #artfight #artfight2026 #art #artwork #krita

Throat raw from screaming? Gut clenched all week? Simmer a small piece of dried licorice root in water, low and slow, ten minutes. Sip it warm. It coats and calms—a demulcent, an old friend to sore throats and sour stomachs alike. One catch, because I love you: real licorice raises blood pressure. Keep it occasional. Skip it if you're pregnant or carry heart, kidney, or blood-pressure trouble. Medicine is medicine precisely because it isn't nothing. #Herbalism #LicoriceRoot #NaturalRemedy #ThroatCare #Healing #Druid #Herbalist #Wellness #SelfCare #PlantMedicine #HolisticHealth #TraditionalMedicine #Roots #ThistleAndMoss #EarthBased

The blackberries went red to black along the fencerow this week. Goldenrod is thinking about it, not committed yet. This is the stretch the old calendars barely name. Past the solstice, before the first harvest. The leaf at full size and the fruit still hard and the light already a minute shorter each evening than it was last week. Nothing is ripening. Everything is holding. Tha an talamh a' cuimhneachadh — the earth remembers. What are you holding right now that hasn't ripened yet? https://twp.ai/4hsxtj #DeepSummer #Nature #Blackberries #Foraging #Druid #Pagan #EarthBased #Phenology #Georgia #Garden #Solidarity #Photography #Gaelic #NatureWriting

Chasteberry. One teaspoon dried, covered pot, fifteen minutes simmering, ten more off the heat. Peppery, faintly bitter, more broth than tea. The old remedy for hormonal weather — the cycle that arrives sideways, the perimenopausal months that feel like being renovated from the inside. #Herbalism #PlantMedicine #FolkMedicine #Chasteberry #Vitex #Apothecary #Herbs #Perimenopause #HormoneHealth #Druid #Pagan #EarthBased 1/2

It works on the pituitary's schedule, not yours. Three cycles before you judge it. And if you're on HRT of any kind, tell your prescriber first — chasteberry has opinions about prolactin. High summer now. The dog days, when the year holds its breath at the top of the arc. Goldenrod budding along the fence lines. First tomatoes coming in heavy. The land giving everything it has before the turn. Tha an talamh a' cumail a' chunntais — the ground keeps the count. Cùm grèim, ach na cùm cho teann 's gun bris thu. Hold on — but not so tight that you break. You're allowed to be furious and tender in the same breath. For the tired that sleep won't touch — the bone-deep flatness that comes after months of bracing. Rhodiola. The golden root, the one that grows where almost nothing else will. Chop the dried root, cover it in vodka, cap it, set it in a dark cupboard three to four weeks, shake when you remember. A dropperful in water in the morning. Never at night. The Siberian herders swore by it before the word "adaptogen" existed. Start low. It's a steadying, not a jolt. What do you reach for when sleep isn't the thing that's broken? https://twp.ai/4hsmIY #Herbalism #Adaptogens #Rhodiola #HerbalMedicine #Wellness #Foraging #Druid #Photography #News #LGBTQ #Pride #EarthBased

Deep green now. That heavy, spent mid-July green where the leaves have quit growing and taken up enduring instead. The pokeweed by my fence has gone purple at the stem and thrown up berries the birds will be drunk on by August. It did that without permission, without funding, without a single committee vote, in the crack between the driveway and the fence where nothing was ever supposed to grow. Tha an talamh na tàmh anns an teas — the earth is resting in the heat. Not sleeping. Resting. There's a difference. What's growing where you didn't plant it? https://twp.ai/4hsg4F #Pokeweed #Nature #Photography #Garden #MidSummer #Gaelic #Druid #Pagan #EarthBased #Foraging #Botany #Plants #Wildflowers #Solidarity

Red clover — seamrag dhearg. Pick the blossoms in full sun after the dew burns off, when the heads are dry and springy and the bees have had their turn. Steep a heaping tablespoon in near-boiling water, covered, ten minutes. Covered matters — that's the whole medicine going up your ceiling otherwise. #Herbalism #RedClover #HerbalMedicine #Foraging #FolkMedicine #Gaelic #ScottishGaelic #Apothecary #Plants #Druid #Pagan #QueerWitch #WildCrafting #Botany
