Does anyone have a #recipe for country potatoes in the #airfryer, that is not extra verbose and AI generated, like everything else I found so far? #cooking #Foodfön

Forty percent protein by dry weight. That's among the highest of any plant food there is, and it costs less than a cup of coffee. Lupini fed Mediterranean and Andean households for thousands of years before an American grocery store decided they were a novelty in a jar by the olives. #FoodAsMedicine #Lupini #Legumes #PlantProtein #Cooking #Foodstodon #Nutrition #FoodSovereignty #Frugal #MutualAid #Mediterranean 1/3

Roughly 40% protein by dry weight. Among the highest of any plant food on earth, and almost nobody in an American grocery store knows it's there. Lupini have fed Mediterranean and Andean households for thousands of years. Raw, they're genuinely bitter — quinolizidine alkaloids, days of soaking and rinsing to debitter — which is why most of us should buy them already brined in a jar. Rinse, pop them out of their skins, olive oil, lemon, a great deal of black pepper. A bowl of protein for less than a coffee. Two hard cautions, and I'd rather say them twice than not enough: lupin is a recognized allergen with real cross-reactivity to peanut, so if peanuts are a problem in your house then lupin is a problem in your house. And the ornamental lupines in the garden are a different species and genuinely toxic. Admire those and walk on. What's the cheapest real protein sitting in your kitchen right now? https://thistleandmoss.com/p/what-survives-the-morning-another-week-that-wont-sit-down-2d2398dcba465b14?utm_source=PixelFed&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fedica #FoodAsMedicine #Lupini #Legumes #PlantProtein #Cooking #Foodstodon #Nutrition #FoodPhotography #Frugal #FoodSovereignty #Mediterranean #DailyGathering

Slowcooker ? So many times I have seen slowcookers being used in TV-series . ( Mainly #kdrama ) But never came close to one in real life. Nobody around us uses or used one ever. We are not new to slowcooking on gas or electric. Either classic goulash -types or curry dishes. But the thought of using one is appealing. Anybody ? #slowcooker #cooking #food #kitchen

I just started reading this cookbook on Kobo, and it's SO GOOD. The humor catches you by surprise around every corner -- I'm honestly not used to breaking out openly laughing every other page -- and the comfy, personal tone makes it feel like chatting with a good friend about their cooking experiments. I don't know yet if the recipes will hold up, but damn I'm enjoying the read so far, and I've already decided this will be gifted to at least two people I know. https://www.nikisegnit.com/lateral-cooking #cooking #cookbooks

Pantry meal: skillet squash-and-lemon pasta — feeds 3, under $10, ten minutes → Seven things: 12 oz short pasta, two medium summer squash, four cloves garlic, olive oil, one lemon, half a cup breadcrumbs, grated parmesan. Boil the pasta. Toast the crumbs in oil with one minced clove until sandy-gold; set aside. Grate the squash coarse, hit the hot pan with it and the rest of the garlic for three minutes — it collapses fast — then add drained pasta, a splash of its water, lemon zest and juice, the cheese. Toss hard. Crumbs on top. Late July is when squash gets cheap enough to be insulting, and the grater turns a vegetable nobody's excited about into something that behaves like a sauce. #Recipe #Cooking #CheapEats #FoodAsMedicine #BudgetCooking #Food #Photography #QueerJoy #MutualAid #Solidarity #pride https://twp.ai/4huIzc

Toast and grind your own spices → Dry skillet, medium heat, no oil. Whole cumin, coriander, peppercorns, fennel — thirty to ninety seconds, shaking constantly, until they smell like something and darken a shade. Cool completely. Grind in a mortar, a coffee grinder, or under a heavy pan. Whole spices cost a third of ground and hold their oils for years, not months. That six-dollar jar of pre-ground is mostly dust and shelf time. Fifteen minutes buys you a season. ##NoWaste #Cooking #FoodJustice #SlowFood #KitchenWitch #Frugal #Photography #Homestead #EatTheWeeds https://twp.ai/4huUUj

Does anyone know what this board and pestle is used for? I suspect it may be used to crush garlic, and perhaps herbs, etc. I got this last century, the packaging disappeared, and I do not remember what it is for. It is no longer made by the manufacturer, Legnoart, in Italy, and Legnoart has not responded to my query. Searches return slop and other irelevant garbage. Thanks! #food #cooking #cuisine #ItalianCooking #ItalianCuisine

When I post #foodporn it's usually food for my family since I avoid meat and dairy. This was my dinner: mushrooms, bell pepper, eggplant and pepperoncini. #cooking #food

When I don’t necessarily have much to say because the world becomes a bit much, I post anothe #TipOfDay Here is a tiny but pleasing improvement to ceramic-coated skillets that have brown stains over time. I felt like I tried “everything” over the last few years. (I really hoped the baking soda paste would work, but nope. Then I tried BKF paste but nope. But now, ta-da! THIS. 30% white vinegar boiled at a simmer 1:1 with water. 15 minutes. And yes I used a lid because, ewwww—fumes. At first I was disappointed. But literally 20 minutes later after having rinsed and dried skillets, it was better. A cleaning miracle happened on one of the skillets! I’m sold on 30% vinegar instead of typical household at 5% 3 photos #Stain #Cleaning #Kitchen #Skillet #Cooking #Vinegar

Last night's comfort food. The sausages were Black Pepper and Sage that we bought on the way home, and some of the best I've had. My compliments to the chef 😋 #Food #Cooking
