Our critic found out at the 150th anniversary of the mighty Bayreuth… #culture #opera #classical

A virginal Salome! It does contain a few scribbles in the list of roles from 1913, but the rest of the pages are completely free of annotations! I tried desperately to find a score without the clutter of the English version in it. There are also small additional notes for the differing rhythms. That’s very confusing to work with! I went back and forth on whether I should write into it, and decided not to. I’m having a copy made to work with instead! #opera #Salome #Strauss #operaSinger

It turns out if you want last minute tickets to an event via hoopla, then you are out of luck. Apparently the event has passed, despite being more than two hours before curtain up. #lillesand #norway #opera #hoopla

Ok #startrek folk. #Klingon culture rewards those who live an honorable and worthy life. It's heavily focused on military, battle, loyalty. We know farmers exist. We know scientists exist. And in some parts of trek we see the inevitable clashes that occur. But we also know that #Opera is important to Klingon culture. Except, I've never really seen the pipeline to Klingon music or culture explored thoroughly. Is it honorable for a Klingon to enter the musical career? Must they first prove their power on the battlefield before switching to opera and telling the tales of the great and glorious? I'd never thought about it... until... just recently. And now I can't get it out of my head. No, I've not seen Academy - I'm waiting for the fall to binge watch it all. But.. Yeah. School me on this people. As a former professional oboist (before I become an EV journalist) I'm curious.

As ClickFix and social engineering attacks are ever growing and evolving into new forms while remaining the same at their core, Opera took the security of their users into their own hands and released a feature called "Paste Protect" that is an integral part of their browser to protect users against ClickFix type of attacks. Firefox and Chrome should take Opera’s approach as an example and implement something similar, since the vast majority of the web browser market belongs to Chrome, followed by Safari and Firefox, which both use their own rendering engine that is not based on Chromium. #WebBrowsers #Opera #OperaBrowser #Chrome #Firefox #BrowserSecurity

Georgiana Brummell @dandylover1@someplace.social · Aug 03, 2025
This is my Mastodon dating and friendship post. I will begin with what I want in a partner and/or friend and then explain a bit about myself. I am also considering this a second #introduction. Georgiana Brummell is not my legal name, but it is what I use. I live in New Jersey and am forty-two years old. I am seeking a man over sixty (most likely over seventy) who is well-educated, well-dressed, confident, and witty. You should appreciate the finer things in life and strive for them when possible, but you need not be rich. I would prefer you to either live in or near New Jersey or to be able to visit me frequently if you don't, unless we are just friends with benefits. No married men (or those in monogamous relationships), one-night stands, parents/caregivers, workaholics, or recreational drug users. I am open to both fun with no strings attached and a committed relationship, but I must get to know you first. For platonic friends, I am a lot more lenient. You can be either a man or a woman, should be over twenty-one, and should share at least some of my interests. You don't have to be single or live in or near New Jersey, though if you do, we could go places together. I love wit, wordplay, and dry humour without vulgarity. This doesn't mean I don't enjoy adult fun. I am happily childfree, an atheist, and against political correctness in speech and writing. I also love cats. I have been totally blind since I was two months old, due to Retinopathy of Prematurity. Please note that I have no understanding of depression, anxiety, mental illness, low self-esteem, etc. I also have no interest in politics or world affairs. Some of my interests include studying dandyism, nineteenth-century English grammar, Upper Received Pronunciation, the Italian language, history (mostly European), and the Regency. I enjoy coffee, tea, wine, cooking, reading, nature and historical documentaries, antiques, gardening, hot weather, relaxing in the pool), and playing cards and dice. I love opera, particularly singers from the 1940-s and earlier, and enjoy classical music from Baroque through early Romantic, and popular music from the 1950's through the 1970's. I prefer antique menswear and accessories (no makeup or feminine clothing). My Ideal Man A bit about me, what I am seeking in a man, plus extra commentary on both. All content is clean and suitable for everyone. However, it does contain links to two entries with adult content that may be of interest to potential partners. https://dandylover1.dreamwidth.org/2263.html Escargot Chat (Windows Live Messenger): dandylover1@escargot.chat. I didn't know I had a favourite musical director. Barrington Pheloung was the musical.director and composer for #InspectorMorse #Endeavour and #Lewis. He also contributed to many films and tv shows A wonderful movie about the du Pré sisters, Hilary and Jackie was incredibly scored. The interweaving of #music and #opera with the dramatic themes of Morse is unmatched. Pheloung was only 65 when he died in 2019. The opening theme of Inspector Morse is simple but brilliant. Morse code for M.O.R.S.E. Dated and maudlin at times, it is still classic #TV made better by the music and Morse's relationship to it. https://youtu.be/u20sVtCxf_8
