If you’re curious about the methods behind the #RomaniChords project, the full recording of my talk from the Ninth Biennial International Conference on Analytical Approaches to World Musics (#AAWM 2026) is now available. The presentation discusses my methodological approach, from data acquisition and (finger-)motion capture to annotation and (audio)visualisation, and is followed by an engaging Q&A => https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkAnmf695gA #Ethnomusicology #Musicology #MusicOfRoma #RomaniMusic #Roma

🎶 Tomorrow is already the final day of the Utrecht Summer School on Hildegard of Bingen. Time really flew! It's been an inspiring week filled with medieval chant, wonderful teachers, fascinating discussions, and lovely people. 💚 We'll be closing the week with a small concert tomorrow at 16:00 in the Pieterskerk in Utrecht. Everyone is welcome, so if you're nearby, do come and listen! 🎵 #HildegardVonBingen #MedievalMusic #GregorianChant #EarlyMusic #Utrecht #SummerSchool #Musicology

@JeremyMallin@autistics.life A modern story of old times (all these facts are approximations): Piano white keys play tones called "naturals". They play the original tones in Western music, back to Ancient Greece. Tones played by the black piano keys were added piecemeal for various reasons. Those tones weren't used much for millenia, so keys to produce those tones were often colored (and/or shaped) differently to distinguish them. It took thousands of years to standardize our modern tunings. #Musicology #Piano #History

hi ☺️ can anyone recommend me a good book on andalusian cultural history? or even better, music history specifically? (ideally, i would like something that's neither eurocentric nor exoticising.) i'd be really grateful for any ideas! #musicology #Andalusia :boost_ok:
