The allotment today with the frog pond in the foreground. Alliums are starting to flower, giving some nice splashes of colour, and Geum rivale is flowering by the pond. We finally had some rain on Saturday but less than I hoped for, but better than nothing. #allotment #spring #garden

Planted more plants including cone flowers, petunias, succulents and a beautiful gardenia. When I came in to wash my hands at the kitchen sink that little hummingbird darted back, took a BUNCH of drinks from the feeder then parked himself on the trellis again for a few minutes. I think it might be his feeder now 😅 #Garden #BirdsOfMastodon

Min caught this little hummingbird just sitting and perching on the cucumber trellis right by the new feeder. He just chilled out for like 5 min before flying over to the feeder, taking a drink and then zooming off. WOW! #Garden #BirdsOfMastodon

It’s not too early to have a shower & put on my pjs is it? It’s quite dull outside now & all my planned jobs are done. I have some fresh veg, I visited my friends & had a great catch up chat & I’ve given the pittosporums a really good haircut which got me all hot & sweaty as the sun was out then. I’ve also been researching small chainsaws & came across a little Ozito one, skin only for a very reasonable price. I don’t need a battery, I have quite a few Ozito products & batteries. Guess what I’m buying next time I’m at Bunnings & have spare cash 😁. #Garden.

Good morning Fedi friends. It’s another 8c morning but there’s definitely a lot of cloud around today. No rain though, at least not until this evening & today it’s forecast to reach a fairly nice 24c. For the last couple of days my back has caused me a few issues, but I’ve obviously done all the right things because I woke this morning with no twinges, sore spots or pain. A lovely big full body stretch was achieved, you know those stretches that make you feel awesome - one of those 😃. It’s a good morning. Just home jobs on the agenda today, some cleaning, some washing - easy stuff. I need to make an attempt to get the hedge clippers our & clip my pittosporums out the front. I want to bring them down more than a foot so that when winter arrives the winter sun will shine into my front porch. I’m actually thinking I might take them out after next summer & plant something that won’t grow so tall & doesn’t need hedging. I need to decide what though - thinking, thinking 🤔. Apart from that I’ve been invited to a friends place for a cuppa later this morning, which works out well as it’s near the greengrocers where I also want to go. Tonight while I was fixing dinner in the kitchen I saw at least three hummingbirds at the feeder outside. 🥰 They were taking turns feeding, zooming off then eventually returning for more. I’m so happy. #Garden

2/ #PaulsYard #noMow #Wildflower #Garden photo in daytime. Will be starting the side raised fruit and vegetable garden soon. #Gardening Legend: 1> needs spacing move. 2> Wheelchair deck and ramp is getting moved to this door. 3> only lawn, push mow battery mower for visiting doggies, clippings, etc. Will be seeded naturally. 4> Wildflower meadow 5> AC will be removed since we have low voltage HVAC now, recycled matching siding 6> Going to paint siding sandstone with hunter green for posts, doors, etc to match new room

4/FYI, if you are wondering what #PaulsYard started out as, here is the previous vs work-in-progress towards our #noMow #Wildflower and raised bed #garden yard. #Gardening . Will be glad when we tackle the roof and the front siding, tbh. That is this fall in earnest.

My itty bitty little baby #lilacs. Its going to be a while before we get flowers But they were free (offshoots from my aunt’s plants) and they survived the winter and I love them 💜 #garden

Spent this morning getting the plants into their containers and setting up the new hummingbird feeder. To say I am excited would be an understatement. Trying to keep myself under control with the plants this season. Planted two pickling cucumbers, one Cherokee purple and one Carolina gold heirloom tomato plant plus grape tomatoes and only three pepper plants. Last year we were buried in peppers! My neighbor is helping me bring up the lemon tree from the basement later today, woot! 🍅🌶️🍋🌿#Garden

The allotment in the sunshine. It is looking greener and greener now but there is still no rain. Just more sunshine every day. I am glad now that we had a wet winter and there is still enough moisture in the ground for anything more deeper rooted. But I do have to water my newly planted trees and perennials to help them get established before summer arrives. #allotment #garden

Finally bought a few plants today ahead of the weekend at the farmer’s market when it wasn’t crazy nuts with people. Got some tomatoes, three kinds of peppers, flowers and even stuff to set up a new hummingbird feeder. I’m excited! #Garden
