Fosgail an geata. Fàg fosgailte e. Open the gate. Leave it open. That's the whole instruction. It has one moving part. You either move it or you don't, and everything else I wrote this morning is me trying to say that in Gaelic and failing at a decent length. What's the smallest gate you could unbolt today? #Gàidhlig #MastoDaoine #ScottishGaelic #Gaelic #Language #Folklore #Druid #Celtic #Blessing #Community #Solidarity #QueerNews 1/2

Pick a handful of leaves in the morning while the dew still beads on them, rinse, then steep four teaspoons fresh (or two dried) in just-off-the-boil water, covered, ten minutes. Astringent, faintly green-bitter. Copan an driùchd — the cup of the dew, which is what the old tongue calls it, because the folded leaf catches the night's water in a silver bead and alchemists once gathered that bead for their work. Traditional use is astringent: a cooled infusion as a mouth rinse or a wash for scrapes. A gentle plant, not a dramatic one. Skip it if you're pregnant or nursing, and if bleeding worries you, a plant is a companion to a doctor, never a substitute. #DeepSummer #Nature #Foraging #Druid #Pagan #EarthBased #Phenology #Georgia #Garden #Solidarity #Photography #Gaelic #NatureWriting

Saxifrage. The little rock-breaker — lus nan cluas in some of the old tongues, its name straight from the Latin for stone-breaker, because it roots in the cracks of granite and holds. Tear the young leaves small into a bowl of warm broth. No boiling — that cooks the life right out of it. Cool water, torn leaves, a few minutes in the warm bowl. That bright green astringency is medicine for a throat the smoke and the crying roughed up. Something that lives in stone, teaching the throat to hold. That's the season on the plate. What do you reach for when your throat's had a week? Cha bhris an t-snàthainn — the thread does not break. Above a Manhattan brothel in 1895, people met in secret and called themselves the Cercle Hermaphroditos, the earliest known trans advocacy group in this country. They gathered to defend one plain right: to dress as we please. The century gave them no room. They met anyway. #Pride #QueerHistory #TransRights #LGBTQ #TransHistory #QueerNews #Community #Resist #Solidarity #Gaelic #Pride2026\ 1/2

The blackberries went red to black along the fencerow this week. Goldenrod is thinking about it, not committed yet. This is the stretch the old calendars barely name. Past the solstice, before the first harvest. The leaf at full size and the fruit still hard and the light already a minute shorter each evening than it was last week. Nothing is ripening. Everything is holding. Tha an talamh a' cuimhneachadh — the earth remembers. What are you holding right now that hasn't ripened yet? https://twp.ai/4hsxtj #DeepSummer #Nature #Blackberries #Foraging #Druid #Pagan #EarthBased #Phenology #Georgia #Garden #Solidarity #Photography #Gaelic #NatureWriting

Is treasa tuath na tighearna. The people are stronger than the lord. The old tongue knew this before there was a word for a corporation, and it will still be true when there isn't one. You came in today carrying a tariff, a slaughterhouse, and a pastor with a microphone. You're leaving with a broccoli stem, a jammy egg, a man who held the screen for five minutes, and four Republicans who voted the right way on a Tuesday. Beannachd leat, agus till a-rithist. https://twp.ai/4hsxuE #Gaelic #ScottishGaelic #Gàidhlig #Celtic #Druid #Pagan #EarthBased #FolkWisdom #Blessing #Solidarity #MutualAid #Resist #Language #Photography

Tha an talamh a' cuimhneachadh — the earth remembers. And what she remembers this week is every July before this one, stacked like plates. Cùm grèim, ach na cùm cho teann 's gun bris thu. Hold on — but not so tight that you break. You're allowed to be furious and tender in the same breath. The air came up off the pavement this morning like a held breath, and my knees knew the pressure before the phone did. Ninety-four degrees. The clay along the creek gone the color of dried brick. And the black-eyed Susans opened in the ditches anyway — stubborn as anything that has decided to live. Tha an talamh sgìth — the earth is weary. What's blooming where you are that has no business blooming? https://twp.ai/4hss3I #BlackEyedSusan #Wildflowers #Nature #Photography #Summer #Gaelic #QueerNews #Pride #LGBTQ #Herbalism #Earth #Resist

Deep green now. That heavy, spent mid-July green where the leaves have quit growing and taken up enduring instead. The pokeweed by my fence has gone purple at the stem and thrown up berries the birds will be drunk on by August. It did that without permission, without funding, without a single committee vote, in the crack between the driveway and the fence where nothing was ever supposed to grow. Tha an talamh na tàmh anns an teas — the earth is resting in the heat. Not sleeping. Resting. There's a difference. What's growing where you didn't plant it? https://twp.ai/4hsg4F #Pokeweed #Nature #Photography #Garden #MidSummer #Gaelic #Druid #Pagan #EarthBased #Foraging #Botany #Plants #Wildflowers #Solidarity

Red clover — seamrag dhearg. Pick the blossoms in full sun after the dew burns off, when the heads are dry and springy and the bees have had their turn. Steep a heaping tablespoon in near-boiling water, covered, ten minutes. Covered matters — that's the whole medicine going up your ceiling otherwise. #Herbalism #RedClover #HerbalMedicine #Foraging #FolkMedicine #Gaelic #ScottishGaelic #Apothecary #Plants #Druid #Pagan #QueerWitch #WildCrafting #Botany

Motherwort. The lion's-tail. Luibh a' chridhe — the herb of the heart. A strong short steep of the dried leaf, or a small dropperful of tincture, for when the chest is doing that fluttering, over-revved thing grief and too much news will do to it. Bitter enough that you'll respect it. Generations of women reached for it. It asks nothing but a weedy sunny corner to grow wild in. What do you reach for when the week rattles your heart? https://twp.ai/4htaTU #Herbalism #Motherwort #HerbalMedicine #Druid #Pride #QueerNews #Nature #Foraging #Plants #Apothecary #Gaelic #Solidarity

Doimhne an t-samhraidh — the deep of summer. The year has tipped past its longest light and begun, imperceptibly, the slow lean back toward dark. You can't feel it yet. The heat says summer is forever, and the heat is lying The figs are swelling toward purple. Some quiet animal part of you already knows the days are a minute shorter than they were You are not the heat dome #Gaelic #ScottishGaelic #EarthBased #Druid #Seasonal #Nature #Mindfulness #QueerJoy #Community #Solidarity #Poetry #Hope
