#TIL (actually yesterday) from my kids about the #sadBeigeMom hashtag, to describe influencers places like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube who design their homes only in shades of cream and grey (even children's toys and ornaments on Christmas trees). I'd noticed that "design" approach on TV home-improvement shows as well (even to the point of painting over wood trim or exposed brick in bland colours, and putting grey tiles over hardwood floors). "Sad" isn't half of it. #hashtags #design

Kennt jemand eine Möglichkeit in Mastodon mehrere Hashtags in einer Liste oder Filter zu kombinieren? Ich kenne die Listen Funktion, aber da kann man ja nur Konten hinzufügen. Die hashtag suche kann nur ein Hashtag. Ich hätte gerne eine Liste oder gefilterte Timeline wo alle Posts mit dem Hashtag A,B oder C drin auftauchen. Irgendwie konnte ich nichts dazu finden. #Hashtags #Mastodon #askfedi

Increase the spread of your posts with.. #HashTags

Big tech now ignores the humble HashTag through #algorithm control. On here you’re IN CONTROL

Couple tips:

  1. For accessibility capitalise the first letter of each word (TitleCase). Then screen readers can read each word. Do this even if the suggested tag that pops up is all lower case.

  2. Anyone can follow a tag and that’ll help those people find your post. As your post will show in their feed. Follow some HashTags yourself!

#️⃣ Hashtags im Fediverse – weniger ist oft mehr Mir ist aufgefallen, dass viele Hashtags ganz unterschiedlich nutzen. Manche verzichten komplett darauf, andere hängen unter jeden Beitrag 20 oder 30 Hashtags. Deshalb heute ein kleiner Blick hinter die Kulissen. 😊 Ein Hashtag ist nicht nur ein farbiges Wort mit einer Raute davor. Er ist gleichzeitig ein Thema, unter dem Beiträge gesammelt werden. Viele Menschen folgen bestimmten Hashtags, um genau die Inhalte zu sehen, die sie interessieren. Jeder zusätzliche Hashtag bedeutet aber auch: 🔹 Dein Beitrag wird in einem weiteren Themenbereich eingeordnet. 🔹 Er wird auf vielen Instanzen zusätzlich indexiert und verarbeitet. 🔹 Menschen finden deinen Beitrag möglicherweise über diesen Hashtag. Mehr Hashtags bedeuten deshalb nicht automatisch mehr Reichweite. Im Gegenteil: Zu viele Hashtags wirken oft unübersichtlich und erschweren den Lesefluss. Außerdem verlieren die wirklich wichtigen Themen zwischen vielen weniger passenden Schlagwörtern an Aufmerksamkeit.Manche Menschen empfinden Beiträge mit sehr vielen Hashtags als unübersichtlich oder stumm schalten solche Inhalte sogar. Wenige, gut gewählte Hashtags helfen oft mehr als eine lange Liste. Für die meisten Beiträge reichen 3 bis 6 gut gewählte Hashtags völlig aus. Entscheidend ist nicht die Anzahl, sondern dass sie wirklich zum Inhalt passen. Ein Beispiel: 📷 Ein Foto vom Sonnenuntergang über der Elbe braucht vielleicht nur #Fotografie #Natur #SächsischeSchweiz Mehr ist in vielen Fällen gar nicht nötig. Hashtags sind also keine Dekoration und auch kein Wettbewerb. Sie helfen dabei, Menschen mit ähnlichen Interessen zusammenzubringen – genau dafür wurden sie geschaffen. Wie handhabt ihr das? This is very useful re hashtags on fedi. When I click on one, I want to see everything by everyone on fedi that isn't blocked by myself or my server. Like I imagine that I'm seeing every post by visiting a subreddit. Sorted reverse chronological. All recent conversations on that subject. I assume that's what most here want, but I know some definitely do not. And I know it's very difficult to do on a not-even-that-huge-yet decentralized network. #SocialWeb #hashtags https://tag-federation.online/

When you're a Very Important user on the #Fediverse, and you spend 3+ hours writing dozens of responses about how something is opt-in actually (it isn't), and that you understand consent (after-the-fact), maybe you should take the next 3 hours to reflect on how wrong you are. #subtoot #hashtags #bots #relays #ConsentIsSexy

There were a bunch of dumb tricks like that used in the Wild West days of the Web...people would do the same thing with "metatags," including a bunch of tags which had nothing to do w/the actual purpose of the site. Imagine including 50 #Hashtags on your posts which have no connection to the post.

and I am really impatient to see some updates to #pixelfed -we need the possibility to follow more hashtags, to block certain #hashtags etc. - i blocked hundreds of accounts manually and still my feed contains far too many posts that are of no interest to me. It was a good decision to leave Instagram, but 99.9% of art institutions, important artists and my professional network are still not part of the #fediverse and I can’t even really recommend it like this. what is your user experience? how to develop ?@?@dansup@pixelfed.social
