Giving an #LLM / #Ai to a non knowledge worker is like giving a combine harvester to a yoga instructor and expecting results. #aibullble #datacenters

”…if you’re looking at data centers, a lot has been said about how many jobs they’re going to create, but most of the jobs they create are temporary. They’re construction jobs, and so once the data center is built, most of them employ maybe 20 to 30 people per data center… …is it really worth it…?” —Whitney Webb #datacenters

Is your company's data center consumption contributing to carbon emissions? Europe and other regions have experienced several extreme heatwaves due to climate change and other factors. Data centers have been also an ongoing discussion due to their environmental impact. #cybersecurity #datacenters #climate #finops #cloud #aws #sustainability #climatechange

In other news... New Poll Shows #PeggyFlanagan Expanding Lead in #Minnesota Democratic #US #Senate Primary by Levi Rickert July 30, 2026 "Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan ( #WhiteEarthOjibwe ) has expanded her lead in the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate, according to a new survey released Wednesday by Public Policy Polling (PPP). "The poll found Flanagan leading U.S. Rep. #AngieCraig 46% to 32% among likely Democratic primary voters, a 14-point margin that has doubled from the seven-point lead she held in a PPP survey conducted one month earlier. "The survey comes with less than two weeks remaining before Minnesota Democrats choose their nominee in the #August11 #primary. "According to the poll, Flanagan maintains a net favorability rating of +32 despite months of negative advertising aimed at her campaign. Her supporters argue that the results demonstrate Democratic voters remain firmly behind the lieutenant governor even after significant outside spending in the race. "The Flanagan campaign and its allies contend that outside groups supporting Craig—including organizations backed by #cryptocurrency interests and a #TechnologyBillionaire with investments in #datacenters—have spent approximately $20 million on advertising in an effort to influence the primary." Not one of these dumbfucks can replace Dear Leader. They're all so arrogant and dumb they think they can, but they absolutely cannot. The brighter ones are starting to realize this and are hastily trying to return to social acceptability outside the cult. #MAGA loves racism more than they love their children. They were never going to accept Vivek Ramaswamy. They REALLY aren't going to accept data centers and insults from him like he's Orange Jesus. https://www.reddit.com/r/Ohio/comments/1vbru3c/vivek_ramaswamy_booed_off_stage_after_being/ #Ohio #DataCenters

Jennifer Rubin: Standing up to AI oligarchs. "Only a few months ago, the political influence of #AI companies, boosted by the avalanche of dark-money operatives, was successfully fueling a mad rush to build energy-hungry #datacenters across the country. But then a remarkable popular surge in opposition, a grassroots movement demonstrating the limits of third-party dark money and the power of genuine local political engagement, began to take hold. #TheContrarian https://www.contrariannews.org/p/undaunted-0d1

"Nexus Data Centers will use the capital to develop a data center campus in Hubbard, Texas, according to a source familiar with the discussions who asked not to be named because the details are confidential. As part of the deal, Google agreed to backstop Anthropic with its investment-grade credit rating, the person said." RE: https://mastodon.social/@koen_hufkens/117004920937193940 So #Google is sacrificing their children to their mechanized #Moloch. A few noteworthy aspects: (1) As always, it’s worth keeping in mind that #LLMs and generative imagery are NOT the whole of #AI. (2) The willingness to shut down such a celebrated and illustrious project as #AlphaFold demonstrates the extent of the growing financial desperation hidden behind the #singularity hype about #LLMs. They've stretched their resources — and the resources of the world economy and the physical environment — to the limit, and they're STILL nowhere near showing the returns they've promised. The skin of the #LLM bubble grows ever thinner. (3) We CANNOT allow gigantic accumulations of private capital to exist — not if we value our lives, our freedom, and the physical environment that sustains us. Not even if we believe that there are approaches to #AI that are still worthwhile. (4) Ceterum censeo: the #datacenters — the temples of the mechanized #Moloch — must be destroyed. #Luddite

@Cosmosis@dice.camp Me too. I suspect strongly, though, that something like this was the plan all along. I remember thinking, when I first heard the "Don't be evil" slogan: "ALL large corporations are evil to some extent. A corporation that pretends not to be evil AT ALL is very likely to be REALLY FUCKING EVIL." I wish I'd been wrong. #Google #LLMs #datacenters #AI #AlphaFold #Luddite
