@mikele@social.anoxinon.de Who just had all the money as Greenpeace... on the other hand, I do not feel a urge to burn several tons of fossil based fuel, polluting our planet even further for no reasons, as a SAIL-boat could have done just the same, by using natural resources like WIND energy. I can't speak for Americans, but in Denmark we were taught that wind energy is a natural resource that does not pollute. In contrast, black tar, like the fuel some ships burn, is very polluting, sending trillions of harmful particles into the air and generating large amounts of CO2. #greenpeace #rostock #g8 #demonstration #climatechange #climatecrisis

Let’s stop pretending World Cup players in ICE COLLARS AND COOLING VESTS are NORMAL. When footballers are already training in 30°C / 86°F-plus heat, wrapped in ice and pouring water over themselves just to cope, that is a crisis signal for football’s future and for all sports. #worldcup #FIFAworldcup #football #climatecrisis #heat

“We have to recognise that the world is committed to net zero – more than 80% of our trading partners are committed to net zero (…). The world is changing. We can pretend that’s not happening, as some in Australian domestic politics do. Or we can prepare.” https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jun/13/australia-fossil-fuel-exports-renewables-cop-chris-bowen #Canada #CDNPoli #Australia #ClimateCrisis #ClimateBreakdown #ClimateChange #NoPipelines

There is an alternative to climate breakdown, political extremism, and economic tensions. A set of bold policy proposals, including hefty wealth taxes on billionaires, sharp reductions in working hours, a change in diets and a shift of investment from materially intense sectors, such as industry and mining, to education and health. If these and other measures are taken the incomes of 89% of the world’s population would double by 2100 and global heating would be kept below 2C (3.6F) over the preindustrial average. This vision provides a positive alternative to the grim projections from far-right techno extractivists, nationalists and billionaires who claim the future will inevitably bring more fossil fuels, climate disruption and inequality. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/jun/04/world-inequality-lab-equality-academics-planetary-survival #Earth #ClimateDiary #GreenEnergy #FossilFuels #Climate #ClimateChange #GlobalWarming #ClimateCrisis #Nature #Science #TaxBillionaires #NoPlanetB #Economics #Politics #Health #Equality

One Minute to Midnight How Extreme Wealth Fuels the Climate Crisis Based on Tony Juniper’s book, this episode proves that global inequality—not a lack of tech—is the primary roadblock to saving our planet. Compressing human history into a 24-hour clock, we explore how extreme wealth footprints, status anxiety, and a broken obsession with GDP have pushed us to the final 60 seconds before ecological collapse. It’s time for #Thrivalism. https://youtu.be/F-3sZNig8G4 #inequality #ClimateCrisis

Beneath the forest floor the fungal threads run for miles, carrying sugar from the strong tree to the sick one — no headline, no applause, just the quiet insistence that nothing here survives alone. That's what this publication is. The girl, the buoys hauled dripping from the dark, the slow draining of every instrument we built to hear the world tell the truth — we keep it all in the record. And we can only do that because of you. No billionaire. No ad network. Just readers who refuse to look away. Click an advertiser today. It is not transactional. It is one more place set at the table. It keeps the lights on. It keeps us alive. https://twp.ai/4hs9J8 #IndependentMedia #MutualAid #MutualAidRequest #SupportJournalism #QueerMedia #Solidarity #CommunityCare #Resistance #TransRights #ClimateCrisis #Substack #QueerNews #Photography

The Trump administration is tearing up 900 deep-sea instruments that took a decade to install and $370 million to build — scrapping the world's most advanced ocean monitoring network to save $48m/year. Real-time data on AMOC stability, marine heat waves, ocean chemistry, commercial fisheries? Gone. Congress twice voted to save it. They did it anyway by bureaucratic fiat through the NSF. No, not budget management, this is deliberate science vandalism — blinding ourselves to the ocean systems that regulate global climate, because the results were inconvenient. #climatecrisis #trumpadministration #sciencedenialism #oceanscience #amoc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJczkQZDQhM

PBS did a documentary showing infrared/thermal drone footage of the massive gas turbine plants being built next to AI datacenters. As I’ve pointed out in the past, despite greenwashing these massive datacenter campuses being built by so-called “hyperscalers” are being primarily fueled by on-site gas turbines, which in addition to climate crisis-causing CO2 also emit high amounts of NOx and particulate matter. https://youtu.be/5p426fSlYH4 #climatecrisis

AI boom means US is now ‘investing more’ in fossil-fuel power than China A rapid expansion of data centres across the nation is at the heart of the #US tech sector’s plans to continue “dominat[ing]” the global artificial intelligence (#AI) industry. High demand for #electricity to power these data centres has led to companies rushing to build new gas-fired power plants across the country. This trend, combined with “soaring” gas-turbine prices, drove a threefold increase in US gas‑power investment in 2025 – and the #IEA expects this to continue throughout 2026. As the chart below shows, Chinese investment in #coal- and #gas-fired power is expected to drop this year, amid domestic policy changes and the Iran war sending gas prices spiralling. Together, these trends mean the IEA expects US investment in fossil-fuelled power plants to overtake China’s in 2026. https://www.carbonbrief.org/ai-boom-means-us-is-now-investing-more-in-fossil-fuel-power-than-china/ #FossilFuels #ClimateCrisis

The thermometer stopped lying. The WMO now puts the odds at 91% that we breach 1.5°C between 2026 and 2030, with an 86% chance one of those years tops every record on file. This isn't nature misbehaving. It's the machinery that bet the planet's thermostat on a quarterly return. https://twp.ai/4hqgeN #ClimateCrisis #Climate #WMO #ClimateChange #Divest #ClimateAction #Environment #GlobalWarming #EcoJustice #News
