Approval of biggest coal project in NSW planning commission’s history described as ‘infamous betrayal’ "The New South Wales independent planner has approved the biggest coalmine project to ever go before it, allowing mining to continue until 2045 at a Hunter Valley project described by climate groups as a “carbon bomb”. On Wednesday, the commission said the greenhouse gas emissions from the mine, near Singleton, would “contribute to climate change impacts on the people, economy and environment of the Hunter region, NSW and globally”. The Climate Council had described the project as a “climate bomb that would supercharge climate disasters”. One of its councillors – the former NSW Fire and Rescue commissioner Greg Mullins – on Wednesday raised concerns over overseas emissions from the coal. “What NSW exports as coal, we import back as bushfires, floods, heatwaves and droughts,” Mullins said. “Climate harm does not stop at the border, and neither does the responsibility for it.”" Once again the corrupt Labor party showing they couldn't give a sh!t about Australians, only Lobbyist Dollars, no matter the cost to environment, peoples health, or even the survival of the Human race.. ‘The toll is huge’: El Niño-driven wildfires overwhelm Indonesia’s orangutan population "The mother’s hands were peeling from walking on the torched ground. Her eight-month-old baby, which clung to her side, was dehydrated and thin. The pair, named Mama Abu and Abu (“ash” in Indonesian), were found in an oil palm subsidiary estate, rescuers say. The orangutan pair were saved last month from wildfires that are devouring Indonesia’s forests and peatland, unleashing thick smog, and destroying the habitat of some of the planet’s most vulnerable species." Meanwhile unAustralian Labor Anthony Albanese: "Here you go mate, a nice shiny new Coal Mine License, the BIGGEST one in NSW yet, cheers for the $10k *donations* & Chicken Dinner last night.. ‘Supersizing before our eyes’: UN warns of record El Niño approaching "Event is likely to be largest in at least 1,000 years and will pile extra heat into a world already in a climate crisis" "The El Niño is likely to be the largest in at least 1,000 years and will pile extra heat into an atmosphere where temperatures are already rising rapidly due to global heating. The combination means 2027 is set to “blow apart” the record and be the hottest year ever recorded."
